My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Le Chat Noir (The Black Cat)
Chat, as he is called, was rescued from a local high kill shelter. Unknown to the workers at shelter, Chat is extremely claustrophobic. He was agitated and throwing himself at the glass in his cage, screeching at the top of his lungs. They thought he was aggressive and were going to euthanize him. When Purrs & Wags founder opened his cage, he jumped into her arms and put his big front paws around her neck and started purring and licking her face. He went home with her right then and there.

He is a big sweet boy. He weighs around 13 pounds. He loves attention and loves to be petted. He is a talker and sometimes you think he is speaking English. He has been known to say "hee row" sounding like "hello". Le Chat Noir means The Black Cat in french. He is so named because he looks like the cat in the famous Steinlen art poster by the same name. He has also been known to make noises like a dog barking. Chat is a unique cat, not to mention a real lovebug. He loves to be in your lap or next to you on the couch.

Le Chat Noir is front declawed, up to date on vaccines, FIV/FeLv negative, and neutered. He is in a foster home with a small dog and other cats. Le Chat Noir is ready for his furrever home. Due to his claustrophobia, he must be transported in a very large cage.

Special Need: Claustrophobia-must be transported in large cage

More about this rescue

Purrs & Wags of Memphis is a no-kill "Special Needs" rescue. We take in and provide care to pets who have been abandoned, abused, neglected, sick or injured. When an animal comes to Purrs & Wag they have a home here forever if need be. Purrs & Wags will only euthanize when it is the most humane option for the animal (healthwise). We never have and never will euthanize for space. We treat their bodies and restore their health, earn their trust, and teach them what love is. When they are ready, we endeavor to find them the best possible homes for the rest of their lives. If it doesnt work out, we want them to come back to us. Never go to a stranger we do not know.

All our adoptable pets will be up to date on vaccines, spayed or neutered, wormed, FIV.FeLv checked, HW checked, some but not all are microchipped. They all have spent time in foster homes, so we can tell you how they behave with children and other pets (even husbands)

Purrs & Wags are always looking for qualified foster homes for dogs & cats. To foster you must be willing to provide shelter, day to day care, and love to a rescued animal for an extended period of time. Some animals stay in foster care for years before being adopted. You must be able to take them to Vet appointments, adoption events, and meet & greets. If you are interested, contact us for more information.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the daily care of our foster animals, which includes feeding, watering, bathing when needed, litterbox cleaning, not to mention grooming, loving, petting, and walking the animals. If you are interested in helping out with the day to day care of animals already in foster care, contact us for more information.
