Name: Meghan
Video: youtu.be/kTZSysjpFNs
Suspected Breed(s): Retriever mix
Gender: Female
Age: 4-5 years old
Weight: 60 lbs
Personality: Outgoing, funny, playful, goofy, protective, good running partner, energetic
Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs, but she can be too playful for smaller or lower energy dogs.
Observations with Cats: Much improved behavior with the two cats in her foster home. She’s learning that cats play differently than dogs and might not like to be chased!
Observations with Kids: Meghan’s exuberance would do best in a home without small children.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Does well in the crate for up to 4 hours in the day. Sleeps in the crate at night.
Location: DC area foster
Rescued From: Columbus County, NC
Additional Information: Unconditional love and loyalty are what awaits Meghan’s new family. This beautiful, sweet girl loves to hang out with her favorite humans and has excellent manners at home. Meghan is a master at play and will play with the two resident dogs until they all tucker out. As much as she enjoys the company, she does not require constant attention. She is content to sit, play, and chew a bone on her own. Meghan is very smart and happy to show you her skills with the commands: sit, come, bathroom, treat, and kennel. She will also alert you when someone is entering the house. Because she is very treat motivated, Meghan is just at the tip of the iceberg of what she can learn! Meeting new people, especially tall men, can be a little daunting for her at first, but once she warms up, you are her new friend. Meghan would love to live in a home with another dog, ideally in the suburbs with with a space to run and play. She is very athletic and is a fast runner! Apply today to meet Meghan.
*Meghan was rescued thanks to your generosity on Giving Tuesday 2017. Thank you!

City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.
Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
