My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Name: Brodie
DOB: 9/13/17
Weight: 48 lbs
Adoption Fee: $125

Hi! I am young dog looking for my forever home! I am a super energetic and would love a family that wants to do activities! I'm very food motivated which is awesome for training. I crate very well, especially over night and for short times during the day. My effervescence can be over whelming for dogs so I need to be with dogs who wont be upset with my energy or be the only pet in the home. I do well in a fenced yard since I love to run and play all day! Older kids would be great so I can keep up with them. I'd knock over anyone under 10. I love smart puzzle toys to keep my attention, especially when they dispense treats.

I am physically fit, very smart and food motivated. My foster moms thinks I would do great with a fun job/ sport like  dog agility, dock diving, disc dog etc. Do I sound like the boy for your family??

Note from Brodies foster mom about his needs:
- Exercise, physical and brain stimulation
-Since he is dog selective and can get rough with other dogs, maybe an only dog home
-Room to run
-Someone who doesnt mind his energy, his jumping, wanting to crawl all over them, he is like a Bull in a China Shop
-His need to be by people
-He's not a fan of chasing balls
-He takes a while to go potty due to him smelling everything
-He may knock over younger kids
-Someone who can give him as much love as he has to give, that's ALOT!!

* Brodie is on a daily medication to help control his borderline addisons disease.

An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal. Once we receive your application, a placement coordinator will be in contact with you as soon as possible.

Please check out our website, www.ruffstartrescue.org for more details and additional pictures on any of our animals!

All Ruff Start dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention (dogs) as well as heartworm tested (dogs).

Ruff Start Rescue is a foster based rescue. Animals are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a facility where animals are kept.

More about this rescue

Mission Statement
Ruff Start Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of at-risk animals. We also collaborate, communicate, and educate about the importance of animal rescue and welfare.

Vision Statement
We strive for a world where every companion animal has a safe and loving forever home.

Who We Are & How We Do It
We are a foster home-based Non-Profit 501c3, No-Kill dog and cat rescue based in Central Minnesota. We rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats as well as ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other critters. We work very hard to place them in new loving homes.

We operate largely through volunteers and donations, relying on social media to stay connected. The more than 600 volunteers working with the rescue transport animals, serve as foster families, coordinate adoptions and much more. Without them and their countless hours of service, Ruff Start Rescue could not exist.

Foster-based by Choice
We do not have a shelter. We believe a home environment is far more desirable than a shelter or kennel. We rely exclusively on volunteers to provide foster homes for rescued pets until they find their forever homes.

We Can't Take Every Animal
Because we don’t have a shelter, we can only take a new animal when we have a vacant foster home for the pet to live in while they await their forever home. Sadly, we are not able to assist every animal that crosses our path. There are just too many dogs and cats out there that need help. We promise to do our very best to help find every pet his or her forever home.
