My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sully comes an environment of abuse, and will need an experienced and patient owner to help continue socializing him to men particularly. He bonds very quickly to those working with them, but does have fear behavior meeting some men (big bark, retreating). He plays well with female dogs over males, is not for a cat home, or a home with children at this time. He has good basic commands and leashwork but is still nervous in the vehicle.

Additional adoption info

We have a short on-line application form to give us the basics of your lifestyle and experience. Turnaround time on applications is generally 48 - 72 hours. References are checked. For dog adoptions, appointments are scheduled to have the family come and visit the dog you're considering, and a 10 day foster-to-adopt period is offered on all our animals to give people a chance to get to know your possible pet before committing. Dog adoptions are completed in the new owner's home. Cat adoptions are done at our Adoption Centre at 938 Centre Street S. in High River. All animals currently available for adoption can be seen on our website at www.heavencanwait.ca and full descriptions are available. We are unfortunately not in a position to ship our animals out of area.

Go meet their pets

Our Adoption Centre is located at 938 Centre Street S in High River and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, or visit our website at www.heavencanwait.ca. Approximately 35 cats live on site, all different ages, sizes and personalities. Children are welcome to visit. Dog adoptions are done at our acreage, and those are by appointment. All information is available on our website, and we make every attempt to help match the right animal to the right person or family to ensure the best chance of a longlasting, loving partnership. We participate in various adoption events throughout the course of the year, and advertise them well in advance on our Facebook page and our website.

More about this rescue

Heaven Can Wait was established in the spring of 1999, starting with 20 odd cats and 3 dogs. In the years that have followed, we have moved our operations to an acreage southwest of High River and currently care for 35 - 40 dogs, and over 200 cats. The Adoption Centre was opened in 2008, and has been a great place to come and visit with the cats in an open environment. We also offer the Spay It Forward Program, an incentive we started in 2009 to help financially challenged families and individuals have their animals altered. We are supported by various fundraisers throughout the year, and private donations.
