My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I tend to be friendly and excitable with people and may have a hard time listening in new situations because of my exuberance. I am a strong dog who needs consistent, positive training and structure. I am very people-oriented and will be happiest when I can be a part of my person's daily activities. My excitability may not make me a good candidate for dog parks and my owner should take precautions when introducing me to other dogs. Breed experience recommended. People may worry about my blocky head, so make sure to provide me with lots of training to help me be an advocate for the breed! I promise, it'll be worth it. If we get out and get some exercise daily, I am quite content to unwind at the end of the day sitting in your lap on the couch. I am a big cuddler!

Additional adoption info

The BFHS Adoption Process

1. View available pets
Visit the animals in person at our shelter, or view available dogs and cats on our website. Updated animal data is sent to the website every 15 minutes. Be sure to refresh the adoption pages in your browser for the latest information.

2. Meet the animals and an Adoption Counselor
Once you’ve found an animal (or two!) that you’re interested in adopting, you can spend time getting to know them in our interaction rooms or outdoor play yards. You’ll meet with one of our Customer Care representatives who are trained to help make the best match for you and can answer your questions about the pets. Most pets have received a medical examination and/or a behavioral assessment to help determine the best type of home for that pet.

To assist in this process, you are invited to fill out an Adoption Questionnaire either in advance of your visit or in person.

We also offer the service of introducing your new dog to your current dog.

3. Complete the adoption
If you choose to, you are able to take the pet home on the same day that you first meet them. When you’ve found a great match, it’s time to complete the adoption process! You’re welcome to ask the Customer Care representatives questions about training and for tips on helping your new pet adjust to your home.
