ADOPTION PROCESS

Berkeley Humane believes in an adoption process that carefully matches the lifestyle and expectations of adopters with the needs of each animal. This helps pets remain in their new homes for the rest of their lives.

Our staff will ask potential adopters about their lifestyle, household, and what they're looking for, in order to suggest appropriate pets or determine a specific animal's suitability.

All of our animals receive medical and behavior evaluations, vaccines, microchip, spay or neuter, felv/fit test for cats (at the discretion of the veterinarian), heartworm preventative, flea and tick preventative, and worm treatment.

Our adoption package also includes pre-adoption counseling, a take-home adoption packet, temporary collar, ID tag, temporary leash or carrier, free post-adoption resources and advice, $250 worth of medical care with VCA veterinary hospitals, a certificate for a free examination at a local veterinary hospital, and discounted pet insurance offer.
