Our Adoption Process begins with the potential adopter completing our Adoption Application for either a specific dog, or for any general breed they are looking for. If the applicant lives out of NY, we require pictures of their home and yard. Once we receive the application and pictures, we check references, including veterinarian and personal. If the applicant lives on Long Island, we require a home visit. Once the applicant is approved, we will then try to match them with the best possible puppy or dog for their lifestyle. Adoption fees are $375. An Adoption Contract is signed, and the applicant gets a new furry family member!

After the application ha been completed and approved we arrange for potential adopters to meet our pups and dogs in their foster homes. We also occasionally have adoption events which are listed on our Facebook Page.

Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based on Long Island NY. We rescue dogs and puppies who are at risk of being euthanized in high-kill facilities across the South. Every animal we rescue is quarantined where they get spayed/neutered ,vaccinated and given any medical attention needed to get them healthy. We then transport the animals up to NY where they go into our wonderful foster homes until we find them all pre screened loving forever homes. We will adopt out-of-state on a case by case basis, including, but not limited to, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.
Our goal is to find the best possible homes for our animals, to ensure a life-long loving commitment. We are dedicated to the well-being of our animals. One by One until there are none!
