Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I must be adopted with my sister Karma. We come as a bonded pair. Two is always better than one. My "sister" and I are built-in best friends and there's more of us for you and yours to enjoy. We have been through thick and thin together so we wont let anything separate us. Other animals would be hard pressed to join our circle, we prefer to be one solid duo. One of us is super shy so it makes it harder for younger children to read. We are likely best suited in a home with kids above 8.

Dog and cat adoptions are the cornerstone of our mission and services. After more than 36 years of sheltering animals and placing them into loving homes, our work is still not done. There are thousands of animals in shelters waiting for homes across the Chicagoland area. We hope you will take some time to learn more about our adoption process and meet the pets currently available for adoption.
NAHS strives to make appropriate, permanent matches between adopters and our cat and dog friends. Here is an outline of how the process works:
Visit the shelter during our adoption hours to see if there is an animal that interests you.
Complete our brief "Pets and People Profile" and discuss it with an adoption counselor to determine if the animal is well suited for your family.
Interact with the animal you choose.
Let us know if you are still interested in adoption after you visit with an animal. If you are still interested, ask your adoption counselor about completing the adoption process.
The NAHS Adoption Fees are:
Senior Cats (7 years & older) - Fee waived thanks to The Lucky 7 Fund
Cats (6 months - 6 years) - $60
Kittens (2 - 5 months) - $150
Senior Dogs (7 years & older) - Fee waived thanks to The Lucky 7 Fund

Go meet their pets
You can visit with all of the animals available for adoption at our shelter located at 1620 W. Diehl Road, Naperville, IL 60563.
The Naperville Area Humane Society (NAHS) is a non-profit, limited admission animal shelter accepting cats and dogs. Our shelter can house as many as eighteen dogs and forty cats.
Each animal is tenderly cared for at NAHS. Entering a shelter can be stressful or possibly even terrifying to some cats and dogs. Our dedicated and highly trained staff and over 300 volunteers offer compassionate care to each animal and work to address his or her individual needs.
The staff works diligently to match the needs of each pet with a family eager to adopt a dog or cat. While at NAHS, all animals receive basic vaccinations as well as medical care. All animals are neutered or spayed before being released to their new owners. In addition, dogs’ temperaments are thoroughly assessed before being made available for adoption.
Unfortunately, there continues to be far too many cats and dogs needing help in our society. Since we cannot solve this overwhelming problem ourselves, we have evolved our approach to the homeless animal crisis to include innovative community service initiatives, such as humane education and a behavior helpline, while we continue to re-home animals.
