Steve McQueen
a very cautious and shy fellow who has been passed from one shelter to another. As a Black dog, he has been overlooked at both the califorbnia shelter he was dumped at and the Kitsap Shelter we transferred him from. Black dogs are almost always put down in the shelters, as people don't really see them and just walk on by. Kitsap transferred Steve to us to give him the best chance at finding his family. Steve is already happier to be free from a cage, have other dogs to interact with and a huge yard to run and stretch his long legs. He is very timid yet and we spend time holding and loving him to help him relax.
Steve needs a Child-free home and a fenced yard as he currently is a bolting risk due to not understanding why he keeps getting passed from place to place. Steve will need dog savvy adopters whio are patient and will work with Steve. We think once he gets settled in a real home and has daily one on one interactions he will start to coe around. he will do best to have 1-2 very friendly small dogs to develop a bond with as they will also mentor him and help him adjust.
Steve is approximately 2 years of age, neutered, microchipped and completely vaccinated. he had his first bath recently and loves being clean, he ran for hours in joy afterwards. Steve will not yet willing seek out attention, but he is curious and follows us around the rescue. If he is resting inside a crate, he will let me get down on the floor and pet him. Steve just needs adopters who will help him to re-build his self-confidence.
To apply to adopt Steve, please have a secure fenced yard for him to exercise and potty (he cannot leash walk until he rebuilds confidence and learns how) and time and commitment to spend with a dog who needs extra love and attention and have 1-2 small buddies for him. http://rompinpawsrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/
