Mufasa, or "Mu as his foster family calls him, is a very special boy who came from a severe hoarding situation. He is learning to trust humans again and has made very significant strides in his foster home. He is thought to be approximately four years old and a Chow mix. He is still very timid and shy with people but is learning to trust slowly but surely. In fact, he is coming out of his shell very quickly! Mu needs a family who is willing to be patient and kind to him, to show him that people can be trusted. A family who is willing to give Mu time and space to come out of his shell, in turn, will certainly be rewarded because Mu is such a sweet boy and a very easy keeper. Mu gets along fabulously with other dogs and is the one of the most socially adept dogs we have seen. He is interested, playful, and forgiving of other dogs, and is very passive and responds very appropriately when another dog asks for space and is not taken aback when another dog is rude (he just moves away). Because of this, Mu would do best in a home with other dogs to spend time with and to learn from how to be a spoiled pet dog . Mu also gets along well with cats and has started playing calmly with his feline foster brother. Mu is house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is quiet, calm and polite. We have seen no problem behaviors from him whatsoever - no excessive barking, no house soiling, no getting into the trash, no counter-surfing, no pestering the cat, no scratching or chewing things he should not. His only current issue is that he is very timid and he is making great strides in that department. Mu will likely never be a "take anywhere dog, a dog who can be trusted off leash outside of a fenced yard, or a dog who is outgoing with people, but he is the sweetest dog and so adorable. He likes to play with toys and will throw both of his front paws down in an exaggerated bow chasing after them. If you've been thinking your current dog(s) needs a playmate and are looking for a low maintenance easy companion for your current furry buddy, Mu may be a perfect fit.

Find the pet for you at the Adoption Center:
Angels of Assisi’s adoption center is open from 12-6pm, 7 days a week. Adoption Specialists and Volunteer Ambassadors are eager to help you find the pet that would fit best in your family.
Adoptable Pets in Foster Homes:
Some of our available pets are currently in foster homes. If an animal is currently in a foster home, it is noted in the animal's biography online. To meet a pet in foster care, please fill out a non-binding adoption application, and the foster parent will contact you to schedule a meet and greet once the application has been approved (generally within 24 hours).
Found the perfect addition to your family? Now what?
The next step is to fill out an adoption application. You can complete and application online (preferred) or stop by the adoption center to fill out a paper application. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older. If you rent your home, we will need to contact your landlord or see a copy of your lease to verify the pet policy. Most applications can be approved within 24-48 hours.
Taking Your New Pet Home
