My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tom Petty!

This handsome black and white tux kitty is approximately 2 years old. He was a stray who ended up in a high kill shelter but now “he’s free, free falling”, living in Georgia and looking for a human or family to love. He loves his foster mama and she says if she could only use one word to describe him, it would be SWEET! He lets his foster mom pick him up and hold him. He just wants to stay by her side or sit in her lap. He is very calm and laid back.

This amazing, beautiful, lovable kitty is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations, and microchipped. Tom Petty has everything going for him EXCEPT he tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This does not mean he can’t live a happy, normal life. He is healthy and the virus may never progress any further.

Tom is not contagious to humans or dogs. He gets along well with other cats and would be a good companion to another FIV cat. The virus can only be transmitted to other cats through a deep bite wound which normally happens during mating or when unneutered males fight over territory or females.

Tom says, “DON‘T be afraid of me, even though I’m positive for FIV; I’m a healthy boy who intends to live a very long time, LOVING the person who adopts me”.

Tom simply has too much love to give to be without a human companion and home to call his own.

Tom’s adoption fee is $150.00 dollars with the following vetting- neutered, up to date rabies shot, wormed and microchipped!

Additional adoption info

Once you have found your perfect pet, we suggest getting an application in immediately, found at www.sosrescuega.org/application

We require an application with 3 references, a vet reference, and a phone interview. Next, a deposit is paid to secure your pets place on transport. You pick your city from the many stops our transport company makes, and meet your pet on a Sunday morning. We transport dogs/cats from Georgia to the northeast every single week, arriving on Sundays.

Our puppies and kittens are adopted very quickly - we often receive hundreds of inquiries on the same pup so the best way to increase your chances of getting your pet is to send an application immediately - found on our website at www.sosrescuega.org/application

We are not able to answer every email, so check our site often to see if the pet you want is marked adopted.
