- Very smart - already knows sit, stay, down, shake and come!
- Likes walks during quieter times of the day when there are fewer people or other dogs; does great on a leash
- Shy but sweet once he knows you
- Looking for a relaxed home with patient guardians who will help him build confidence; may benefit from living in a quiet area without many people or dogs around
- Tends to be very stressed around children (needs an adults-only home right now)
- Tends to avoid other dogs (needs to be the only dog in his home right now)
- Tends to be protective of his home and adopters will need a plan for slow, positive introductions to new people entering the house or yard
- Vet visits can be scary for him, so we'd highly recommend a vet who practices Fear Free techniques
- Adopters will meet with a member of our behavior team before adoption to talk about his history and how to set him up for success in his new home
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
