My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Caroline, the charming Catahoula Coonhound mix ! Currently under the loving care of Big Dog Ranch alongside her devoted momma, Caroline spent her formative weeks engaging in typical puppy activities: nursing from her mother and exploring her surroundings. With her striking coat and soulful eyes, Caroline embodies the perfect blend of Catahoula intelligence and Coonhound curiosity. Whether she's romping in the grass or curling up for snuggles, she radiates boundless energy and affection. This bright and spirited pup, affectionately named Caroline, is eagerly awaiting a forever family to join her on life's adventures. Could yours be the home she's been searching for?

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue! Adoption literally saves lives. When you adopt from our rescue, you enable us to pull another dog from a shelter, which saves the life of another dog and creates more space at the shelter so that new dogs can be kept longer.

The first step is to submit our online application. Please make sure it’s complete : )

If the application is approved, we will make arrangements for you to meet any dogs in your area that you may be interested in and that fit your requirements.
Once you have decided to adopt a dog, you will need to complete the adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee of $375.00 - $450.00. The adoption fee helps us to recover a portion of the expenses we routinely incur in rescue (boarding, vaccinations, worming, spay/neuter if age appropriate, and transport) so that we can continue to save other dogs. Please note that the adoption fee is nonrefundable.

More about this rescue

The New England Humane Society is an all breed dog rescue located in Northern Rhode Island. We have foster homes located throughout New England. We are a group of dedicated animal lovers who rescue animals from euthanasia at overcrowded county shelters and pounds, as well as abandoned animals, litters found in fields, and other homeless animals in need. NEHS’s goal is to care for these rescues until they find their forever homes, and educate the public about responsible pet care. Our animals are fully vetted and spayed or neutered. They are treated regardless of age, breed, or medical cost. NEHS receives no state funding or government assistance. We survive by the donations of caring people, fund raising, and adoption fees. Since we do not have a facility, most of our pets are kept in private foster homes in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
