My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mocha! Mocha is a very sweet and silly pup but is still learning to trust new people. She will need a slow introduction and will prefer a quieter home but once she warms up she is an amazing cuddle-buddy. She is dog social but only if you are smaller than her 45 lbs. and not a cat (we are pretty sure the cat won't appreciate her love). Looking for someone that thinks they are a lap dog? Well Mocha enjoys sitting in your lap and sticking to your side throughout the day. So come visit with this lovely lady today and give your little dog a chance to feel like a big dog. Visit Mocha today.

Additional adoption info

Adopting Procedures
Stop by the shelter and speak to one of our staff members about the things you are looking for in a pet. The Adoption Center at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is open more days than 95% of other shelters in the country. We’re open 361 days a year!

One of our adoption counselors will fill out an Adoption Application for you by asking questions about your home environment, family members and pets in the home to determine if a particular breed or adoptable animal at the Shelter might suit you.

You can take a pet into a “Get Acquainted Room” to spend some time with it or possibly bring it outdoors (usually dogs on a leash). Please listen carefully to our staff for tips and advice as well as recommendations while you are getting acquainted with some of the animals.

If you feel there is a match, you can take your new pet home. Costs vary from $5-$150 depending on the type of pet and the age of the animal.

We also advise that you check with your landlord before adopting a pet, because although you are allowed to return a pet to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, we do hope that the pet is allowed to stay in your home.

Remember, because all of our animals are already neutered before they are adopted, you can't get a nice pet any less expensive AND you can take pride in the fact that you are providing a home for an orphaned animal.

Adoption Package Includes:

Microchip and national registration
One month of pet health insurance for free
At least one set of vaccinations

More about this shelter

The mission of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter is to enhance the quality of life for animals and people through compassion, respect and education.

For nearly 40 years, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter has extended the hand of kindness to neglected and abused companion animals in Cheyenne and Laramie County. Today, we are involved in an ever-expanding effort to accomplish a mission that goes beyond sheltering the homeless and unwanted pet population. Our goal is to find a home for every adoptable companion animal brought to our door. To reach this goal, we must increase the number of pets we place and decrease the number of pets relinquished. We hope to achieve this goal through ongoing community relations programs, such as humane education, offsite adoptions and outreach.
