Story
Bonnie needs a ranch! She needs someone who understands her and respects her needs and boundaries. She is a sweet girl and will be your best friend if she likes you. She is very high energy, loves the water and needs a job! She’s really not a family dog, she’s not one you would take out for walks, she’s the kind of dog that just needs a person and a ranch type environment where she can run and hunt and enjoy life. Please, only those with experience inquire. We would love for her to have a home but it must be the right environment for her to thrive and succeed.

Story
This is Merry! Merry is 12 years old, and we rescued her along with 21 other dogs from Wishing Well Ranch on February 1, 2020. Merry was quite skittish, either from little human interaction or from simply not knowing us. She started gaining confidence from watching and interacting with our volunteers and the other more confident little pups at FFF. She attended our weekly Frosted Fakers hikes and  allowed volunteers to hold her, but she burrowed her face in their elbows out of fear.  And then Merry got to go on a two-week Frosted Fling! We learned that Merry is a foodie! What a good tool to help learn her trust. Her Fling family reported she was always hungry and very food driven. Merry did not have any accidents in her crate or in the bed overnight, but seems to be scared of leashed walks and may hold her bladder during this time. Merry did well with the household dog, even play bowing and trying to initiate play time towards the end. She did not seem to mind the cat, either. Merry is scared of new people, but becomes more comfortable with patience and time. Her Fling family says, "Once she became used to us and our house, she is so excited when we come home that she jumps around in her pen with excitement and zooms around once she's out. We were able to take her leash off inside the house after the first few days. She pretty much stopped running away from us and will lay down when it's time to put her leash on to go outside. Merry likes to sleep in the flat spot between our pillows. She makes cute sounds but doesn't snore. She loves her belly rubbed and will roll over to ask for more." Now Merry lives in a foster home. We've learned from her foster mom that Merry enjoys doing yoga with her every morning. See the photo! Merry also went to the groomer and did very well. Story
Meet Biscuit, a 10-month-old cutie who came to us from Mexico. She and her brother Bender belonged to an elderly man who had no means to provide them with proper care. They were both underfed and constantly in danger of being run over by cars as they were often left outside on the streets all day. A good samaritan took pity on them. She fed them, took them to get their vaccinations, and eventually helped get them into our rescue partner's network. Both siblings are currently available for adoption at The Barking Lot. Biscuit, the more shy of the pair, recently went into foster care in the hope that she will learn to come out of her shell. Fast forward to a few weeks in, and Biscuit has made some great progress! Here’s what her foster mom has to say: “She is housebroken and uses the doggie door. No accidents in the house! She has the freedom to roam the house inside and out. We have a cat and Biscuit is very curious of him. My cat gets along fine with our other pups but is cautious with Biscuit. I think just because biscuit shows a lot of interest in him but she's never snapped or growled at our cat. She's very very shy. She is still learning to accept treats from people but only when they are tossed. We are still working on taking from the hand. She does not know any tricks yet. She's always well behaved. It's only when we're gone that she gets into mischief. She can be a lil naughty sometimes cuz she's a digger and steals clothes and remote controls and chews them up even though she has plenty of toys.... 😂😂 When I corner her so I can pick her up, she'll just make herself small but will let you pick her up. She has never growled or barked in a menacing way. She wants to be loved but doesn't know how to react to it.... yet. She's a sweetheart and playful with other pups. It's people she's more scared of. She's ok cuddling for a bit when you can catch her. She's not yet good at going on walks, but we're working on it!'' Biscuit is doing well and making slow and steady progress in her foster home. She is sweet, docile, and observant. In her element, Biscuit is also playful, inquisitive, and engaging. We would love to see her in a forever home that can provide her with stability so Biscuit can build up confidence and eventually blossom! If you'd like to meet this pup, please visit www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptTo initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below.
