I am the craziest looking dog you have ever seen. Very handsome, happy and will do anything to get my belly rubbed. I got my name Uncle because I was part of a pack dumped out in the country near an abandoned trailer. Just one look and you could tell we were all related. The rescues who picked us up were in utter amazement that someone would breed on purpose our breed. For we are a designer breed called "Bassador". If you haven't figured it out yet or couldn't tell by my picture, I am a Bassett hound/ Labrador mix. I have the funniest Bassett hound walk but the brains of a lab which equals an incredibly sweet laid back rascal. I am ready to head to my very own home where I will never be thrown away and always be loved. Please fill out an application and submit a deposit to start my journey home to you.     Breed Bassett hound/ labrador mix Great with people, children, dogs/ puppies, and cats/ kittens                 Please email for more information on this dog:    alittlelonger2home@gmail.com     This dog is NOT offered for adoption by Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) but an Arkansas rescue partner.  Please contact them directly for more information.

Story
We do not euthanize any dogs, dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved and we can only do this when space is available or have an adopter. If you are interested in Buddy-URGENT please do not wait!! If you would like to apply to take Buddy-URGENT home, click the link next to their picture, or Visit our website at Www.godogsgorescue.org and fill out an application! We look forward to hearing from you. Sadly, Buddy and Sissy’s owner passed away, and no one in the family could take them. They had been their owner’s constant companions. Sissy ready to come for pets right away, but Buddy is frightened at the shelter and needs more time to trust. Eventually, he will let you pet him and give him treats. Both are senior dogs and love being together. Buddy is bonded with Sissy, they do everything together! Buddy looks to have a bassett hound body with a labrador head? We don't have their weights right now as they are self conscious and working on losing some extra pounds at the moment. They are both house trained and easy to walk on a leash. The person that brought them in said that Buddy is good with children, but Sissy is a little skittish around them. We think with all of the changes in their lives, they deserve to enjoy their golden years together in a quiet home with no children. They’re sharing a kennel, and Sissy will greet you with a tail wag. Buddy is nervous in a kennel, but once he’s out, he’s a happy fellow. Both are sweet dogs! Buddy has a cherry eye but that will be fixed before he comes home to you, don't let that discourage you from adopting the perfect pair of dogs! Both are HW negative, fully vetted and ready to go to a soft bed in a loving home!

Story
Toby was found chained to a tree. The dog house was barely in reach and only a thin piece of cardboard was in it for him to lay on. This was in January, the dead of winter and he was rail thin from being starved. A very kind lady took him in and had him vetted. He has gained weight and learned to trust again. He's still young and a little too rambunctious for the small Chihuahua the lady owns, so she is looking for the right match, so Toby can have a forever home of his own.  He is a great size for a smaller home. His long body and short legs are so cute, you can see the Basset breed by the way his little ankles turn out. Toby is very playful, loves to run and would love to have a playmate to roughhouse with. He enjoys car rides and people. Currently, he is being fostered in Central Arkansas. Transport is available to Northern states. His adoption fee is $175 for local and $350 for Northern adopters due to transport costs. ##607068##

Story
This is Stella... She is a 9 year young gal that has found herself in a pickle. She is the leader of the house and her pa; a boxer says that she is not. The two have been bickering- then fighting... now we are having all out wars about the spot on the sofa or who gets pet first. Stella is the most resilient, I think- Though she NEEDS to lose some weight. She'd be great for an active couple as a walking partner or just a stroll around the yard. She is accustomed to an electric fence. We do NOT think that she should have another dog in the household. Cats would likely make her run; THAT would be good for her health ,, but sadly, she can't eat a whole on on her own. She is house trained and loves to sleep under the covers at night - She is wonderful with kids and all people. She is Heartworm negative, on all preventatives, fleas and tick etc. She is fully vaccinated, Spayed. **In an abundance of caution, we have to cancel adoption events due to the threats of COVID-19 . If you are approved for adoption, you will be given directions to the rescue. http://littlerhodyrescue.com/adoption-application/ *Filling an application does not guarantee you as the adopter. All applicant's references will be called. PLEASE call your veterinarian and references consent to speaking with us ! We cannot process your application otherwise. Failure will put your application in 'Limbo" We process applications as they arrive. The first approved applicant will be called and the pup taken off of Petfinder. We do not have the man/ woman power to all all other applicants to advise them. IF there s another dog that you are interested in as well, please list at the top of the application and we will enter your application for that pup if the first choice has been adopted. THANK YOU !!! You are giving a first rate dog a second chance....By adopting! ***** SADLY , we need to put this in print: THIS IS A RESCUE DOG. We do NOT know their birthday / age. (unless other wise noted) More often than not, OUR TEAM has saved them from euthanasia in Southern shelters. We do not know any more than our Veterinarians offer to us. We often have them in kennels, and utilize crate training. House training status is often NOT KNOWN. Prior Health, estimated weight (as an adult), breed (Including the parents' breed , size or mix) and some health concerns are NOT KNOWN unless our veterinarians discover it and offer the information to us. Again, these are strays and turn ins from all over the country. They do NOT come with labels; nor guarantees. Characteristics and disposition can and will evolve with time. YOU the adopter are responsible to train and keep up to date on vaccines and preventatives. YOU the adopter are responsible for taking care of this new member of your family.

Story
NAME: Leonard BREED: Basset Hush Puppy / Lab Mix GENDER: Male WEIGHT: 14-20 lbs AGE: DOB: 07-30-19 LOCATION: Terryville, CT DONATION: $450.00 Adoption Donation: $450.00 includes transport and vaccinations for a year UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER: ADOPTED ON 02-02-20 I am fostering Leonard and what a pleasure it is.I call him my little Zipper. He zips around and has his nose in everything. He loves the snow and he and his buddy Sasha are full of it when they come in.No matter how many times I clean the kitchen and put beds back in the crates,he is there to take them out.He drags his blankets everywhere. He loves to put them in a bunch, get on top and lay there and teethe on the blanket. He then eventually will fall asleep. He started out a little fearful of people but with the exposure he has gotten,he is now the welcomer to everyone. He is such a love-bug and I really love this little guy ORIGINAL BIO: Four beautiful puppies dumped on a back road by careless humans. Just another sad story heard all too often. Luckily, the ending is often happy; a big-hearted person drives by, sees the box of puppies, and brings them to a shelter, where they can wait for their forever homes to adopt them. This is the case for Leonard and his three siblings. Just born in July, someone thought it was a good idea to drop them off on a back road to fend for themselves. Too often, these people think this is the “best thing”, that someone will pick them up or they will survive on their own. This is just not the case. They are exposed to the weather, wild animals, and they just do not know how to take care of themselves. Leonard and his siblings are Basset Hound mixes, but one thing is for sure: the level of cuteness is unbelievable! Sister Penny and brothers Leonard and Shelton all love hanging out together when they are put out to play-although lucky brother Rahj is adopted and in his forever home. Leonard is a little more independent and energetic. His motto is “Let’s PLAY” when he’s let out of his kennel. The one thing that everyone says about him is that he is a lover and you can be sure that when someone stops to give him a cuddle, hug or sweet talk, he is almost motionless, taking in all that you have to offer; he will stay until you move away—he is a true companion. Leonard is a bundle of fun. With his gorgeous coloring and puppy dog eyes, he is sure to steal away the hearts of anyone who meets her. He’s a healthy, happy puppy so really all there is to say about Leonard is that he enjoys playing, playing, and more playing. He loves tumbling around with his brothers and playing with their toys. All that is missing is a family to call her own. Take a look at Leonard, and consider welcoming him into your home, and giving him the warm, loving home he deserves. He is coming to CT on December 28th.  The Basset Hound fits perfectly into family life with its sweet, peaceful and gentle nature. These dogs are well behaved and always friendly. They are not aggressive to people and other animals. They will happily welcome your guests with a tail wag. If you’re looking for an easy dog to groom, then they may be right for you. They make a good family dogs since Basset Hounds are friendly with all even intruders. Nothing is as better as curling up with your Basset Hound at the end of the day. RESCUE DOG VILLAGE WEBSITE: WWW.RESCUEDOGVILLAGE.COM ABOUT OUR RESCUE These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption donations never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs. Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherihed as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their re-homing, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches, as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal! Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. Friendly boy!Zane resides at a rescue in Arkansas.  Please direct all questions regarding Zane to Gail's Pets Second Chance.Zane is a very friendly young male dog.  We believe he is 1 year old and a Beagle/Terrier mix.  He was recently neutered and has received his DAPP, Rabies and Kennel Cough boosters.  He is heartworm negative.Zane is a very friendly boy and gets along with everybody.  He is on the smaller side weighing just 30 pounds and he won't get any bigger.Zane was owner surrendered after his owners had a new baby and we're afraid that Zane was too active to be around an infant.  Zane has made a lot of new friends here at the rescue, but is looking for a new forever home.  (More pictures to be added soon.) Zane resides at a rescue organization in Arkansas. Please contact Gail Ross at 870-431-8229, or via email at gailspets@hotmail.com to discuss this dog. You can find our adoption application by going to www.Gailspets.org and clicking on the Adoption Application tab.
