Story
Woody is a un neutered 9 year old purebred rabbit hunting beagle. He is playful, happy, and energetic, although older, he loves to run and is still capable of hunts. Hes a very nice dog, he loves to cuddle but enjoys the outdoors as well. He has been abused by a previous owner before we adopted him into our family, causing him to have separation anxiety, trouble with loud noises and sometimes meeting new people can trigger him and he WILL get defensive. He is a sweetheart and gets along well with cats and kids but he can be very energetic in the house and that could potentially cause some issues. Obviously since he is a beagle and his breed is meant for hunting, he is not a full-time house dog, a fenced in yard or a large kennel is required for running and exercise, he is known for getting loose from collars, kennels and harnesses. There are several concerns I have about relocating him, it is very likely he could escape and run away and get lost trying to come home.

Story
I'm Such a Good Girl!Bella Blossom was born around November 21, 2009 and weighs around 40 pounds.   She is a wonderful mature lady who was left with us as her human father left for a new job in Florida.  She is wonderful with other dogs and did come with another small dog companion, but we feel she'd be fine as an only dog as long as her humans were around much of the time.  It seems that Bella is reactive to other dogs when she is on leash.  It may well be a leash thing as can happen, because she is great with all the dogs - large and small - here.  Otherwise she is fine on leash and she will nicely hang with you outside while you do your chores.  She is very good with children, nicely house trained and enjoys car rides - sadly she didn't get to take that one to Florida.....  Bella feels cats are too much fun to chase so her next home must be cat free.  Bella had a senior wellness panel and it came back that all was well!  We truly hope we can find her another home where she won't be disposed of again and she will be loved and cared for in her golden years.    The Adoption Fee for this dog is $250.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Story
In Memory of Edgar Allen PomThis transport is in memory of my baby Edgar Allan Pom. Edgar came to Joyful Rescues from a puppy mill in upstate N.Y. He was 10 years old, bald and extremely ill. I adopted Edgar and we started our magical 19 months together. Edgar was that one special dog the one you only get once in a lifetime. He held no grudges from his former life and loved his new life. He was my little cowboy. I would like to thank Joyful Rescues for letting me be his Mom. To celebrate his life I am sponsoring the Edgar Allan Pom transport.   Flutie was born around March 11, 2019 and weighs about 28 pounds.  Flutie is simply adorable and has been wonderful with the other dogs and love us humans.  He is not a big barker and he is loving and does snuggle.  Due to covid we can't get him in to see an eye specialist for a diagnosis, but not sure one is needed.  We've been watching him for a couple weeks and he can see, but his eyesight isn't good - something is off.  What we are relatively certain of is that it is what it is and he lives with it just fine.  In our uneducated opinion maybe his pupils stay dilated or maybe it's a depth perception thing...anyway he doesn't run into things and he gets around great.  He does look into the sky in an unusual way which was captured in one of the photos.  We have noticed that he uses his nose more than a normal Beagle if that is possible!   He uses it in almost a sonar type of way.  So, Flutie is not perfect, but we know out there somewhere there is someone that is going to feel he is perfectly wonderful!   This is all we know so far and we will be learning as we go and so will you!  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $400.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
My Elderly Humans Had Health Problems.Bella was born about September 17, 2007 and weighs about 55 lbs.  She is here because her elderly owners were having health issues and none of the relatives could offer her a home.  Upon arrival she was overweight and had skin issues.  She wasn't ready to leave us right away, but now she has dropped some weight and looks and, seems to feel, much better and is more active than she was.  Her skin has drastically improved and, perhaps, the condition was due to stress, her food, etc.  Bella may be a bit long in the tooth, but she moves well and hears and sees well for her age.  She does have some lumps, bumps and a hanging thingy none of which bother her at this time.  Bella did have an untreated ear infection when she came that we've treated but will likely need more care going forward.  She did well going through having her teeth cleaned.  She is house trained, loves car rides and has done well with visiting children in her last life.  She has been amazing with all the other dogs. We are told she may have wanderlust if off leash so a fenced yard would be best or to walk her on leash and she does enjoy walks.  Bella also enjoys a lot of attention from her people and we are told she loves her biscuits....which are few and far between here at the rescue which might be why she has slimmed down so well.  So, this nice senior lady is ready for a new home and a new life with humans that will love her for however long she has left and we hope there are several more years.  We have the best adopters and we know we will find someone out there willing to love Bella!!!! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $150.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability.
