Story
Belinda / F / approx. 1 year / 26 lbs / Cattle Dog Beagle Mix / Hamilton Belinda is described by her foster as the sweetest, most loving and gentle dog. At first she is very timid, but once you have earned her trust, she is extremely affectionate and loyal. Belinda is always excited to see you when you get home loves to give cuddles and kisses. She is happiest when by your side and would be content to just be with her people all day. In recent weeks, Belinda has started to come out of her shell a bit and enjoys playing with toys and her friends – both two legged and four! She also very much enjoys her walks and going for rides in the car. When meeting new people, especially men, Belinda is cautious but also curious. She will usually retreat to her crate until she feels brave enough to venture out, but with a little love and patience, her loving personality soon shines through. Although very gentle, Belinda would prefer a home with calmer, older kids that understand dog etiquette. Belinda’s new family will need to be patient, understanding and willing to continue the work with building her confidence. She is very timid in new situations and needs time to adjust. She would also benefit from another confident dog sibling to show her the ropes. She loves all dogs and is very submissive and laid back. She is not cat tested. Belinda would be most comfortable in a quieter suburban neighbourhood and could live in a house or condo so long as her exercise needs were met. She is lower energy and would do fine with a 20 min walk before and after work plus potty breaks. New to leash walking, she is nervous when in new areas but is getting more confident and excited about walks each day. Belinda is crate trained and can be left for up to 6 hours. Although she could probably be trusted with free reign of the home, her crate is her safe space and her new family should be willing to provide one for her comfort. She is house trained so long as she receives adequate potty breaks. Belinda does not yet know much in the way of basic commands, and once she feels comfortable in her new home, she’d benefit from a basic obedience class. She does recognize her own name though and comes excitedly when called. If you are interested in adopting Belinda, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/dog-adoption/ Belinda's adoption fee is $525.
