Story
Meet beautiful Cleo! Cleo is a sweet and timid 2.5 year old girl. She came from a not so great situation, so is a little skittish. However, she bonds quickly and closely with one person. She would do best in a quiet home where she can spend a lot of time with "her" person. Cleo is currently being trained at KSR Camp K-9 on basic commands and good manners. She comes with 1 FREE year of a Basic Pet Care Plan & 1 FREE training session. If you're interested in this wonderful girl, send applications to humanesocietyoc@att.net You can find our adoption application here: https://www.humanesocietyoldhamcounty.com/adoption-application.html

Story
Amore is a handsome Belgian Malinois mix believed to be around 1 year of age. Amore was a stray in the Louisville Metro area so we unfortunately do not know his history or true breed combination. Amore is happily looking forward to joining a new family though and doesn't dwell on the past. He was originally named Armor All at the shelter and he has gained many nicknames but does not know any name truly.    Amore is an active, athletic, goofy guy who thinks the world is a party and he is the superstar. He enjoys being the center of attention and is an outgoing, social boy with all those he has met. He doesn't know much about manners and is sure everyone wants to play with him and be his best friend. Amore can be a very demanding guy when he wants to play and is a mouthy dog when he gets roughhousing. He is working on this behavior - which is pretty common for Malinois - and is easily redirected to appropriate toys. He has an eager to please personality and would excel in advanced obedience or any number of dog sports given the right guidance. Amore has been around children 8 years and up and is a typical rambunctious, untrained bundle of affection. He has little regard for his size in comparison to children but is friendly and social with the children he has met.    Amore is fairly sure all other dogs want to play with him and doesn't really understand why some dogs don't like him. He has a rambunctious and outgoing personality with other dogs that tends to get him in trouble with the more laid back dogs that don't want to play. He is learning to respect other dogs boundaries and navigate play groups with more finesse. He would likely do well in a home with other young, playful dogs. Amore has not been around any dogs under 30 lbs or cats at this time.    Amore is a run, rambunctious dog who is searching for a home that will include him on all of the adventures and give him the guidance to handle it all with some grace. If you're the home for Amore email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit our website, Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for more information on our adoption process. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Prancer is a wonderful girl who is 12 years young and very well-traveled. Prancer was originally a stray in Paris where her owners found her as a puppy. They took Prancer in and gave her a loving home and the experience of traveling many countries with them. Unfortunately, when they were asked to relocate to Germany Prancer could not pass customs and they made the decision to surrender her. Prancer has been with us for 3 years now waiting for a new home to call her own. Prancer is loyal to the core and can be a playful and bouncy girl with those she knows but she isn't the type of dog to tolerate being handled by strangers - hence her inability to make it through customs. Prancer believes in mutual respect and earning it. When she enters a new home Prancer can be aloof not wanting to be touched or handled until she has settled in. Overall, Prancer is a no-nonesense type of gal and appreciates a stable environment where she can be a diva. Prancer is not recommended for a home with children as she greatly values her personal space and has no qualms correcting invasions of it herself. Prancer has been living with other dogs and does really well with the other dogs. Again she is a very no-nonsense dog and will tell the younger dogs to leave her alone sometimes but will also play with them at times. Prancer is generally the smallest in her foster homes but despite that she navigates unruly Shepherd foster siblings well. Don't let her age fool you Prancer loves her exercise time and is still an active girl. Prancer has been around cats in the past but not recently. She would need a new cat test and a plan of introduction before she could go to a home with cats. Prancer is above all a very loyal dog and once you have gained her trust and loyalty you couldn’t ask for a better dog. Prancer is searching for a home who understands and appreciates her Malinois characteristics and will give her the love she deserves into her golden years. If you have any questions about Prancer, or would like an application, please contact us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Dante is a handsome young Malinois around 2-3 years of age who is full of fun and potential. Dante does everything in true Malinois fashion with lots of zeal and passion. He enjoys meeting new people and is a generally social boy when out in public or at home. He has always been sweet and affectionate with new volunteers when approached. He is generally more concerned with his toy(s) though and isn't the sort to pester for attention. He likes people but is not a people oriented dog. Asking for what he wants, or just taking it, isn't a problem for Dante who routinely swipes bowls or cooking sheets to play with at his whim. He has been living with a child who is very dog savvy and won an unsure Dante over but he has not been exposed to any kids under 6 years of age. Dante's favorite activities include eating metal bowls, chewing wire crates, and pursuing whatever toy might be available if neither of the first two options are open. Dante has worn down his teeth due to his metal eating addiction so he is not a candidate for protection work however Dante has a strong search drive and would be a good possibility for SAR. Like most Malinois Dante has a strong drive overall and is a very energetic guy so he will definitely require a job beyond household companion. Dante is a stereotypical Malinois who will eat the house around him if left bored and jobless.  Dante has been fostered with other dogs with no issues. He is much more concerned with what he can get his mouth on and not so much what the other dogs are doing. He tends to be non-confrontational and will even move to another toy if one of the other dogs swipes his toy. He is not submissive though and doesn't tolerate being pushed around by other dogs. He is a middle line personality in the play yard and has walked with dogs as small as 12 lbs (puppies) and large as 90 + lb Shepherds without issue. Dante does have a strong drive though and is NOT recommended for a home with cats. Dante is searching for a home that is full of adventure and training to keep him on track to the best he can be. Dante will need a home that is well-versed in Malinois or other working breeds as he is not the dog for a first time working dog owner. If you're the home for Dante email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs including adoption fee and process.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
