Story
SPECIAL NEEDS Kitty needs a very special home: Cooper was born in April 2018 and is a beautiful Bengal boy. Cooper is currently in foster care and not at the shelter. If you want to meet him in person, an appointment can be arranged. About Cooper and his special needs: Cooper has a seizure disorder and is on several medications that must be given multiple times per day to help prevent seiz ures. Administration of this daily medication regime is vital. Even with the medication, Cooper sometimes has a seizure and may need additional medication at that time. Cooper is a relatively laid back boy - some of that may be attributed to the anti-seizure medication that keeps him mellow most of the time. Cooper gets along with other cats, dogs, and children! Cooper would benefit best in a home that tends to be on the quiet and relaxed side. We think Cooper has some “tunnel vision” - meaning that he does not seem to have peripheral vision. His foster mom says he startles easily if you move too quickly from the side to pet him. He gets around just fine, however, he does not jump. So, he will not jump up on your couch or counter tops. He moves around the house on the floor just fine and often just plops on a nice spot to lounge for a while. Cooper may have some other dullness in sensory areas. He eats and drinks but not with gusto. We are not sure he smells things well. He only pees and poops once a day. However, he does not always hit the litter box. We keep his in a bathroom and also use puppy pee pads on the floor for easy clean up if he misses. Since he only goes potty once a day, the clean up is less than what you would be doing if you had a new puppy. This is manageable if you are willing to continue using the litter box procedures currently being done. Cooper needs an owner that has the time to provide for his daily care, one that will give him a loving home that he so deserves, and one that is willing to continue to look for ways to improve the quality of his daily life. Although he is on several medications, there may be other treatments not yet tried that can help Cooper. Cooper is not yet 2 years old and deserves a loving home.
