Story
Our Dear Brody was found in freezing temperatures curled up under an abandoned transfer truck just waiting on someone to save him. Starved and cold, we loaded him up to bring him into our rescue for some much needed food and a soft bed. Brody is a people pleasing black and tan coonhound. He is not very large, guessing about 50 pounds. Our vet has guessed him to be approximately 6 years old. He is the sweetest boy every and is so grateful for good boy belly rubs and maybe even a good boy treat. He loves loves loves to cuddle on the couch, go for walks, play in the yard....pretty much whatever you want to do is fine with Brody. We would like for him to have a fenced in yard. It is important for hounds to be outdoors with their family and use that God given talent of sniffing nature. Brody is housetrained and is also crate trained. Brody would be an excellent candidate for training and we would recommend this to bring out his full potential. Brody is currently being fostered in Tennessee, but is available to be transported via a professional transport to DC, MD, NJ, NY, and New England areas. Looking for a loveable and athletic dog?  Luger, also known as “Fred” to his friends, is a sweet boy looking for a forever home where he can sniff, play, and snuggle.  He has the classic coonhound personality—think “Lab with an independent streak”, with all of the amiable devotion that entails.  He’s a Kentucky native who was surrendered while young by an owner with too many dogs.  He loves to use his nose, greeting human and dog friends alike with a very thorough snorfing.  He likes to run and especially to leap, with “hops” that will amaze you.  After play time his favorite thing is to curl up with you on the couch and nap.   He gets along with kids, cats, and other dogs, and likes to be part of a pack.  He can be skittish when he hears loud noises, so quieter locations and a companion dog will suit him best.   Discover the wonderful world of coonhounds  please fill out a dog adoption application at www.northstarpets.org & ask for him by name, LUGER KY!

Story
Pedro is a 17 month old Black and Tan Coonhound that is ready to join his new family. He is a happy young hound that loves to meet new people who will give him rubs. He gives away kisses with abandon and appreciates attention. He's slightly more cautious with new canine friends but quickly warms up and loves to play. He carries his ball around with pride and could be taught to "drop it" for a game of fetch. Pedro walks politely in a harness lead and doesn't want to miss a sniff. He rides well in the car, too. Pedro is working on housetraining and is crated when left alone. He prefers to hang out at his human's side inside the house and gets along well with the older coonies in his foster home that have no interest in play. Coy had been running around as a stray living in an abandoned house for 2 years and having litter after litter before she was finally caught with her last litter of sweet puppies (whom you may remember as Cyrus, Calvin, Clark and their sister Callista).  Coy was very shy at first but now she has experienced love and attention she is blossoming into such a sweet loving girl with a very waggy tail!  Coy is very affection and loves being petted once she gets to know you. She has the most soulful eyes. Coy was a great Mom to her babies.  Now it is time for her to have someone of her own to love, provide and care for her.  Coy gets along with other dogs but we do not know how she feels about cats.  She had tested positive for two tick borne diseases, Lyme & Anaplasmosis but has since completed her treatment and is doing fine. She is about 4 yrs and 50 pounds.  Please help Coy find the loving home she deserves. We rescued Carson six years ago, they thought he was about a year old. He is a very large, goofy, sweet dog. He is strong and needs a firm hand when on a leash. He has a a strong work drive, so he is always 'hunting' new smells in the backyard. He likes to snuggle with the family. But he isn't a dog that will fetch a ball. He loves long walks and runs! He loves being outside. We do walk him on a leash at night because he is vocal when on 'the hunt'. He doesn't bark in the house. He is crate trained. He loves food!
