Introducing: Thorn, the Goofy Gentle GiantDespite weighing in at 63 lbs, the goofy gentle giant thinks he is a petite lap dog! Don’t be surprised if he cuddles up onto your lap during your first meeting, or underestimates just how long his legs are when playing in the play yard. This silly canine is sure to make you laugh like he has Staff & Volunteers. His favorite activities include playing tug of war with rope toys, chase in the play yard, and fetching tennis balls. His previous owner reported his affinity for playing with their older children and adults, so he may make the perfect addition to a family with older kids. When it comes to training, he already knows how to sit, stay and is also house trained, as he consistently goes to the bathroom in designated spots at the shelter. Thorn will thrive in a home that has an active lifestyle or children to play with. Want a walking partner or hiking buddy? Thorn will be ready to join you and make you laugh along the way. While Thorn loves play time, he has a soft side, too. He is known to be a cuddler to Volunteers & Staff. His previous owner even said, “he loves to give hugs.” His gentle personality shines through in every interaction whether it`s on the play yard, or on your lap! While this goofy gentle giant is loved by staff & volunteers, we know most of all he wants to give hugs & laughs to his family.

Story
A message from Shay`s foster family: Where are all my adventurers at, Austin?!? I’ve got the perfect adventure partner for you! My Mom wanted me to tell you all about my foster sister, Shay (A888292). You don’t want to sleep on this girl!! She even sits on command! We are also working on perfecting our potty training (she’s doing great!), leash walking (not too shabby!), and jumpy puppy energy (nothing too crazy!). She’s a real catch, y’all! Truly!Full disclosure, Shay is still a puppy! They estimate her to be about six months and we (me and mom) think that’s accurate. So! She’s a clean slate for you to train her up to your preferences! She loves dogs and people. All of them and any age and size, including kids!! She also likes to snuggle up to whoever she encounters. Sometimes you may have to settle the puppy energy, but it’s easy. Mom says her puppy energy isn’t nearly as crazy or long in duration as she had expected. For reference, I’m an 11 year old 37lbs pup and a little shorter than Shay. She loves me! We play well together and she even lets me have some rest time without interruption. A lot of times she likes to rest beside. Shay doesn’t bark much, which really helps since we are in a condo. We’ve only heard her let out a single bark a few times and they weren’t loud. She also doesn’t mind vacuums and things that make loud noises. She’s really very chill about it.We aren’t sure about cats, but we’ve seen a few from a short distance outside and she’s not reacted at all. Squirrels? Well, that’s another story and I plead the fifth on whether I encourage my foster sister’s interest. I mean, somebody has to help me protect our perimeter!Shay is doing well potty training with a routine. Mom can give you all those details, but basically she takes Shay out to the yard on a schedule. She can also hangout in her crate for a while with no issue, too. In fact, Shay hasn’t had any accidents while in the crate. None! She also sleeps through the night and eats in her crate. Mom has helped her get used to it and she’s started to nap in it with the door open on her own. She’s even been left a few times for about seven (ish) hours and she did great!Shay enjoys her adventures with Mom on the BCGB and Town Lake trail. We live near those and they spend time exercising and exploring outside. They even get stopped and told how beautiful she is and people always want to meet her. She’s done great with a
