Story
We got Elsa from APA shelter on town lake about 5 months ago. She has been a fantastic dog and we were so lucky to get her in our lives. She has tons of energy and loves to run, gets a little nervous around other dogs at first but warms up to them quickly. When she is off leash she stays close, doesn't like to get too far away always keeping an eye on the leash holder. If she gets scared she will usually run in a big circle until she calms down and realizes the dog isn't trying to get her and just wants to sniff. She has had mixed reactions with cats. The ones at our complex like to bat at her when she tries to sniff them so she doesn't like them. But at a friends house she could care less about their cats since they were used to dogs and tolerated her curious sniffs before she went back to play with the dogs. She needs to run and have a larger space to play in than we can provide. I'll also be traveling a lot soon for work and will be difficult to have someone to watch her.

Story
Kona is a great dog, smart, loyal and sweet. Kona is great on a leash (best with harness) and great off leash on a hike. He loves to go for a run. Kona loves his people. We have had Kona for a year now and he has been the perfect dog until recently. He has started showing aggression toward small children entering our house. We understand there may have been some mistreatment by children before he was rescued and this probably has resulted in his recent behavior. He is great with our kids but we feel he needs an adult-only home. Kona travels well in the car and is easy and happy when we board him if we travel without him. Kona is house trained and does well alone all day while we are at work. We have trained him on some basic commands and he picked those up quickly. He would make a great pet for an active adult. He is 75 pounds, 3 years old, black mouth cur mix.

Story
My cousin’s friend found Astro, malnourished, with a collar, but with no information regarding an owner. They took him to a vet and he wasn’t microchipped, didn’t have worms. The only shot he’s had is for worms. My cousin brought him to my girlfriend and I because they were in the middle of moving and couldn’t keep him. Our apartment doesn’t allow for pets younger than 1 year, and we can’t afford the time or the proper care for him, as we’re usually out at work. We care for him deeply, but we want someone more capable of caring for him to keep him happy and loved. He’s very energetic and loves attention, so be prepared for affection.

Story
Charles Gender: Male Breed: Black Mouth Cur mix Age: 5-6 Years Weight: 70 lbs (on a diet!) Kid friendly: Yes Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Charles and Wesley are are bonded pups came into a rural kill shelter together in pretty rough shape as strays. Despite their state of neglect, they were and continue to be the most loving dogs you can imagine. Despite this, they were at the shelter for over 5 months putting them at risk of being killed for space at any moment. They were beloved by both staff and volunteers who advocated to save them. We are grateful they contacted us so we can give these sweet boys a second chance at life. We are still learning about them in their foster home, but we know they walk great on a leash and have enjoyed hiking trips (truthfully, Wesley just preferred to soak in the water). They have had only positive interactions with people and other dogs. They are 5-6 years old and just love hanging out with their humans being couch potatoes. They are very house-trained, so would do just fine with an owner who worked a typical 8 hour day. They were both well-fed and loved at the shelter, so they gained quite a bit of weight and are currently on a diet. To summarize, these are two fantastic dogs! They are truly a bonded pair, so they are a package deal offering a potential adopter double the love!
