Issa

Border Collie Labrador Retriever

Female, 11 yrs 7 mos
Fair Oaks Ranch, TX
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
This special girl was rescued out of a greenbelt ditch with her sisters. Semi-feral and scared to death, they were eventually caught and brought to us. All pups would not let us touch them for the first few weeks, then progress began. Not trusting of humans they need a special home; experienced with feral dogs, quiet, no kids, not alot of visitors or sudden changes. Issa may never recover from the trauma she experienced in that ditch but that doesn't mean she does not deserve to find her forever home. She is not a normal dog- just speical. She needs to trust her person and not be expected to be perfect, affectionate or play. She walks well on a leash, loves other dogs, loves toys and blankets, and would love to be just be a dog. If you have the patience and love Issa needs give us a call, she may never be that snuggly, go-fetch girl but she is very goofy in her own way.

All pups would not let us touch them for the first few weeks, then progress began. Not 100% trusting of humans so a special home is needed; experienced with feral dogs, quiet, no kids, not alot of visitors or sudden changes. Reyna needs to trust her person and not be expected to be perfect. She is a flight risk. New things, new noises and people make her a uneasy. She gives great hugs and kisses to our staff but that is after 3 years of rehab. She walks well on a leash, loves other dogs, loves toys and blankets, and would love to be in a home to keep her safe. Story
I am a great mixed breed pet for a family or an active person with a fenced yard to potty in and do a little exercise. I will be a medium to large sized adult. Since we are mixed with Shepherd, Border Collie, Terrier etc we will enjoy daily walks, dog training and suitable toys/bones. Due to our exercise needs and being vocal we will not do well in apartments, but a house with a fenced yard is best. Meet and greets are best with current dogs in the home as some adult dogs may not like an energetic pup. If adopted in San Antonio/Helotes area, I come with a $100 gift certificate at The Palms for dog training. Please submit online application if you want to meet me.

Story
This sweet boy was pulled from death row at animal control. He and his sister didn't have much time left. Vinnie has a very kind personality, shy at first but then very affectionate when he gets to know you. He was a bit frightened of being touched or held by staff here when he first arrived, but he has warmed up and now loves to be hugged and give kisses. We assume he did not receive much affection or care, if at all, but now he is just waiting on his forever home to love. Vinnie does like other dogs, loves toys, seems to be crate trained and house trained. Vinnie is a great boy, with so much potential in the right home, he would probably do best in a quiet home without very small children. We hope that you will give him a chance.

Story
Gorgeous Check Intelligent Check Athletic Check Australian Check NO!!! We are not referring to the glamorous and ever popular Australian actor Liam Helmsworth, we are talking about me, Quigley!! You may be asking yourself " Why does a good looking guy from down under bear the moniker of a character from the movie Quigley Down Udner”? Gotta love my original owner's creativity!! :) My hairytage is the amazing combination of Australian Shepard and Australian Cattle Dog; this unique combination is affectionately known as the Texas Heeler. I inherited awesome traits from both sides of my genealogy. The Australian Shepard is valued for their versatility, trainability and eagerness to please. While Australian Shepards are still highly regarded for working livestock, they excel at dog sports such as agility training and are highly successful as search and rescue, service, therapy, and disaster dogs. Australian Cattle Dogs are also in the herding breed group; they are noted for their hard muscled strength and agility. Their boundless energy and supple gate make them excellent hiking and running partners. It can be noted that these highly intelligent dogs are known to routinely outsmart their owners!! These athletic pups also excel in sports or some type of "work" to keep them mentally and physically challenged. Foster Mum says that my eagerness to please and affectionate personality can be credited to The Shepard side and my quick intelligence came from the Heeler side!! Let's face it folks, I hit the doggy genetic lottery!! Handsome (and modest!!) to boot!! I just celebrated my first birthday!! At 50 pounds, I have reached my fully growed weight!! I am extremely loyal and love my person doggedly (pun intended :) In excellent health, I have a lot of learning to do and a lot of time to do it!! So good on ya' mate, fill of an application and adopt me today!!
