Story
When I say unknown about children, dogs, and cats?? I just don't know. I am his 4th home and have had him for a year and a half. He is lovable and I don't feel would ever hurt anyone on purpose. But? he doesn't know his own strength and I would not want him around children, seniors, or strangers that would not be understanding because he can jump and lunge fast. He can jump very high and does it very often. It's pretty cool actually, but if you are not up for it please pass on him. He has taught us some great boxing skills. He loves his kennel and unfortunately has to spend quite a few hours in there while I'm at work. He does get plenty of play time at night and can be a bit mischievous if you don't keep an eye on him. If I take him for long walks it cuts down on his misbehaving. He was a rescue and has struggles with his potty issues. This is something I have called a trainer about. I have to move or I would keep him....he needs a strong hand for sure...

To begin the adoption process you must complete an application. You can find our adoption application at: https://www.boxerhaven.org/requirements-adoption-application Before You Apply Please Read Our Requirements For Adopting a Boxer From Boxer Haven Rescue. 1) Boxer Haven Rescue adopts to Michigan Residents Only. We do make exceptions for those living on the MI state line. *If you are not in the State of Michigan, PLEASE DO A WEB SEARCH ON “BOXER RESCUE IN YOUR STATE” and apply to a rescue near you. 2) Boxer Haven Rescue DOES NOT place female dogs in homes with other female dogs. One of the main reasons for the surrender of a boxer is due to female on female aggression. 3) Current pets should already be spayed or neutered (this is circumstantial due to age, health etc, so if your pets are not spayed or neutered, please provide an explanation) 4) You will be asked for contact information for your veterinarian(s). Your current and past pets must have documented vetting, including up to date vaccines, yearly heartworm testing and proof of heartworm prevention. * If you are not current on vetting, DO NOT complete an application. This will save our volunteers and yourself a lot of time. If you would still like to be considered for adoption, please make an appointment with your veterinarian and get your dogs updated, tested for heartworm and on a heartworm prevention plan. Please consider applying in 6 months. 5) You must provide two personal references. 6) You must consent to a home check to become an approved adopter. 7) You will complete an extensive application.

JACK AVAILABLE FOR: Adoption BORN: January 2018 SEX: Male BREED: Boxer/Pit Bull Terrier Mix WEIGHT: 55 lbs. MARL ARRIVAL: Jack was transferred to MARL from another facility. BACKGROUND: Sometimes it easier to describe a dog with a simple phrase and for Jack, that phrase is "a whole lot of dog!" Whatever he is up to, he always puts his heart into everything he does 110%. Whether he's playing with other dogs, working on training or being a 60 lb. lap dog, you can be sure he's doing it with a smile on his face and a wag in his tail! His fun-loving energy is contagious and he's waiting for you to swing by MARL to meet him but be prepared--you're sure to fall in love! COMPATIBILITY: Based on our evaluation, we feel that Jack has the potential to get along with other dogs. Jack would do best in a home without cats. MEDICAL NEEDS: None. Story
My name is Mimi. I am a 4-5 year old Boxer mix. I have an unknown background but have a feeling someone wasn’t very nice to me in the past. My current parents got me from a friend who said she was overwhelmed by their other (5) dogs. I love to play with cats but takes me a while to warm up to other dogs and can sometimes be aggressive towards them. I like new people but only after I really get to know them. I absolutely love my human kids but can be quite protective over them. I am very needy for love and affection, I like to sleep a lot, and am under my parents feet all the time! I did not have allergies in my previous home but I do now and the injections are pretty costly. My parents have recently fallen on hard times and can no longer afford my expenses. I am up to date on all vaccines, am spayed and microchipped. I would do best in a low key environment where I am the only dog or maybe just 1 other dog, cats and kids are fine, and with somebody who can give me tons of attention!
