Story
Madonna ~ This Bull Terrier mix girl is as cute as a button and sweet as pie. She loves her people and cuddling more than anything! She would like to be the only dog in her new home but if there is a current doggy companion at the new house she'd like it to be a submissive, not so smart boy. If she had the option she would lounge on the couch with you and watch movies or read a good book every day - all day. She LOVES to cuddle!   https://youtu.be/jo5nheU1XDI Although athletic and confident she can get a bit intimidated by other dogs when on leash but has come such a long way with her board and train! This misunderstood girl needs a home to call her own and someone who will give her time, love, continued training and patience.   https://youtu.be/h1ZW8zH63j0 Madonna is around 2 yrs old and now needs to know now what life should have been like all along.  She has been spayed so she doesn't need to worry about caring for any more babies.  Her life in Texas was so hard, cruel and demeaning!  A puppy machine.  She is currently located in Vancouver, WA and is getting some one on one training for house manners and learning to play.  She is still a bull in a china shop and her training will need to be continued to ensure she remains the confident, well adjusted, happy, friendly girl she is now.   https://youtu.be/t9ByAZ-U-wk She is ready to go home now and is just patiently waiting for her humans to arrive.   Madonna is spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped and has had a 2 week board and train with Jamie from A Dogs Best Friend with a focus of life skills and living in a house.  https://youtu.be/pDKHAfEaKMU Interested?  You should be! Story
Maddie has been with us since May of this year. She is approximately 9 years old and is in good health. When Maddie came to us she under weight, wasn’t fixed, and had a mass from a hormone imbalance. Since Maddie has been with us she has become a whole different dog, she has a spunky personality and loves to be around people. She loves snuggling on the couch, eating cheese, and rolling around in the grass on a sunny day. We recently got Maddie fixed and the mass removed, and is doing well since the surgery. Maddie is a very happy and healthy pup who is looking for her forever home!

Story
She's a rescue. Her previous owner just kept her locked in back yard with little to no attention other then feeding. She's a rough player and doesnt know how to handle other animals it took a month to get her used to my cat. She knows basic commands sit, lay and working on stay. She loves kissing and trying to be a lap dog. She is hyper but loving and doesn't know her own strength or how to be careful when excited. She partially leash trained. I don't want to let her go but just started a 2nd job and cant spend the time with her that she needs and living in an apartment doesn't give her room to run and it's not fair to her. Getting her rabies shot updated October 2019

Story
Tucker is a little over 2 years old and sadly hasn't had much exposure to life outside of a shelter. He was a transfer in from another facility. When he first arrived at CHS he wasn't much for being handled by humans. He was very scared and very shy, it has taken him several months to settle in and now he is doing great. He is a very tolerant dog and he does well in playgroup. We don't feel that he is going to do well with small kids, as he is very rough and tumble when he plays and he has no idea that he is about 75lbs. He thinks its fun to run into you while he is playing. Tucker is going to need a patient home with lots of understanding of positive reinforcement training in order to make him feel comfortable. An only dog situation for this kid would be preferred. If you feel that you might be able to provide Tucker with what he is looking for that would be great. Please don't hesitate to contact us. CHS is very committed to our adopters getting the best possible adoption experience that they can. Due to that we ask that prior to arrival at the shelter you please call 503-397-4353 or email animalwelfare@columbiahumane.org to make appropriate arrangements. Most of our dog adoptions are done by appointment only, as we have very limited staff and we want to be able to give ample time to our adopters. They deserve that as well as our dogs deserve it.For more information call 503-397-4353 or email animalwelfare@columbiahumbia.org

Story
Sausie is looking for a hero...could it be you? This poor sweet girl was chained in a yard and raped over and over again, to produce puppies that were ripped from her and then sold for profit. Because she received no vet care from her "owners" she also got heartworms. She managed to break free of her chain and was picked up by animal control. Her owners were contacted but they didn't want to pay the fees to get her back, so she was set to be euthanized (pit bulls aren't adopted to the public)...until we stepped in and pulled her to safety. We treated her heartworms and intestinal worms and got her spayed and healthy. She is now a super loving family member that just wants to make up for lost time by getting ALL the snuggles. I've never met a more affectionate dog!! But no one will look past the fact that she is just another black pit bull with cropped ears and give her a chance to show how unbelievably loving she is. :( Sausie is a 5 yr old bully mix. She is SUPER affectionate with people and loves to snuggle and give kisses. She is fine with other pups as well but prefers all the love for herself! She is low energy and mostly just wants to be in your lap all the time. She sleeps in bed and is a wonderful cuddle buddy. She rides excellent in a car. She weighs around 55lbs and is fully vetted and spayed. She is fully housetrained and very healthy! She doesn't need much exercise, just a quick potty break. She is fostered in Houston TX and won't be transported until adopted. Her fee is $400. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TgFlOYfx2g
