Story
Vivian was rescued on 7/29/13 from the Austin City Pound when her time there had expired and she was due to be euthanized. . She is a very gentle, easy-going cat who is a people girl. We feel she was a family cat who was abandoned and then turned into the pound. We would love to have Vivian go to a cat-friendly family. She is a gorgeous girl with unusual markings. We have had her microchipped and her teeth cleaned in 2015. To see Vivian or any of our other cats, please visit during one of our open houses on Tues from 4:30 to 6PM or Sun from 2 to 4PM.  All of our cats have tested neg for feline leukemia, FIV, are spayed or neutered, are current on shots and are social cats.  We adopt to INDOOR homes only and our adoption fee for Vivian is $50. She was then passed to a gentleman who is now physically unable to care for her. Dolly is about 7 years old. She is a somewhat shy cat who would do well with an adult, versus small kids. Dolly is current on shots. She has tested neg for feline leukemia and FIV. She will be adopted as an INDOOR only cat and her adoption fee is $50. To see Dolly or any of our other cats, please visit during one of our open houses on Tues from 4:30 to 6PM or Sun from 2 to 4PM. We are at 101 22 ST SE, Austin, MN. Story
Jade was rescued as a very young kitten during 11/2017. She was hand fed for awhile. She is a little on the shy side. Jade was adopted and lived with a woman for a year before she was returned to us. The reason for the return was due to a change in lifestyle for the previous owner...she could no longer have a pet. Jade did very well in her home and was a loving kitty. We are looking for a permanent, loving home for this girl. Jade has tested neg for feline leukemia/FIV, is spayed and is current on all shots/dewormings. She will be adopted only as an INDOOR cat and her adoption fee is $50 (or 2 cats for $75!). A pet porter is required to adopt a cat from MCHS. To meet Jade or any of our other great cats, please visit during one of our adoption events which are held on Sat from 10 to 11:30, Sunday from 2 to 4PM or Tues from 4:30 to 6PM. Our address is 101 22 ST SE, Austin, MN. We are located off of I-90 on 218 SOUTH, just past our local airport. Story
Please welcome back Mattie! Mattie was adopted in July of 2021, and recently came back to us when a human in her home developed an allergy to cats. We believe Mattie was born in September of 2020 and would do well with most ages, and other animals with proper introduction. Mattie likes to have chin scratches and is easy going around people. She would love to be your companion while reading or watching TV. Mattie can't wait to find her forever home! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will have age appropriate vaccinations, testing, alterations and micro chips included in their adoption fee! Fill out an app at www.freeborncountyhs.org. We do allow home trials with our dogs or cats to approved applicants. This is how we make sure your new family member is the perfect fit. We ask that you allow at least a month for your new pet to adjust to their new home. They will need that time to decompress. During this time we will provide counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review the basic adoption requirements listed on our site before applying. We take finding the right homes for our critters very seriously as they deserve nothing but the best! Please allow a week for applications to be processed. If listed as (Currently in Foster) - these pets are not at our facility but are in foster care homes. They are available for adoption. Meet and greets are available with approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com. Don't forget to check us out on Facebook!

Story
Felix and his siblings came to us after being found as strays when they were around two months old. We believe Felix was born in August of 2021, and would do well with older children and other animals with proper introduction. Felix is one of 6 in his litter and he is the shy guy of the group. He is very quiet and a bit reserved, but does like to be petted once he knows you. He also enjoys cuddling with his kitty friends and would prefer to have a feline friend in his new home! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Meet Maggs! Maggs came to us after being found as a stray. We believe Maggs was born in August of 2022, and would do best in a calm home with older children. Maggs is a quiet gal, that is a very gentle soul. More often than not, you will find he snuggled up in a cozy bed alone or with a friend or two. She does well with other cats, and likes being petted and talked to. She is nervous of loud noises / fast movements, but improves each day. Maggs is looking forward to finding her forever home with a cozy bed to call her very own! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped.
