Story
If you look at this little girl’s left ear, you will notice she has an eartip. That means she was trapped from a feral cat colony to be spayed/vaccinated and released. Sometimes we find some that are actually not feral just timid and scared. So, we decided to keep Janie with us and work on her socialization. She has come so far and we all love her but she is still timid and cautious with strangers. She will take a bit of time to trust you but she will and then she is like a dog. She waits for you at the door and is so happy to see you. She gets along good with other cats and loves to play. Give her a chance, you wont be sorry!  Janie, girl, born approx. 2017

Story
Gingerbread hasnt had an easy time of things. She was given up by her first family because they could no longer take care of her. She had been fed people food and was barely able to get around because of her weight. Our vet was able to get her weight to a more bearable weight for her and she was much healthier, she then went out to another family and started having seizures, so they brought her back to the vet :-( We took over her care and she resides at the shelter until that special family comes along. She is such a precious sweet old lady and really shouldnt be living in the shelter. She has seizure meds and hyperthyroid meds each day. If you cant adopt her, would you consider fostering her for the remainder of her life. We will provide all the vet care and meds she needs. She deserves it!  Gingerbread, girl, born approx 2005

Story
Elizabeth was born in a feral cat colony and trapped to be spayed, we thought she was a kitten, but she was an adult that was very small. We decided to take her into the shelter instead of releasing her because of that. She has since decided that 2 leggeds are not bad and she truly loves affection. If she doesnt know you, she will be a bit timid at first, but she warms up. She has such an adorable little face, can you say no to that? Elizabeth, girl, born approximately 2009. HELP Humane is a non-profit TRUE No Kill animal shelter currently run on individual donations and fundraising alone. (just south of Kansas City). All HELP animals are treated by veterinarians, receive age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, spayed/neutered and those incoming after Oct 2005, have been micro chipped. Cats have been FeLV/FIV tested and are negative unless otherwise stated. Dogs have been heartworm tested and are on heartworm preventative. We have been told by many adopters that the reason they liked adopting from us is because we have a happy place and all the cats are the friendliest ones they had ever met. HELP Humane believes that all life is precious and is therefore, a TRUE No Kill shelter. We have many FIV and FeLV+ cats in our care. They will live with us until they end their life’s journey or find a permanent home. Come Visit Us! Our hours of operation are Tuesday - Friday, 1pm - 8pm, Saturday 10am - 6pm, Sunday 12pm - 5pm, closed on Monday. 511 Main St. Belton, MO 64012 816-318-HELP www.helppets.org Adoption fees vary according to the needs of the animal up for adoption

Story
Precious precious senior girl. We pulled Julia from an animal control in a small town. She had been picked up as a stray with NO FRONT claws! What are people thinking? She was so distraught with all the other cats in the shelter, she would barely let us pet her. An older couple came in wanting a declawed cat and I told them she was a sweet cat just very scared of other cats (many declawed cats act this way). They trusted me and adopted her. She never left the woman’s side but then the woman became ill and the husband brought Julia back to us. She was super stressed and had pulled out tons of her hair. It took us a couple weeks to help her to understand what had happened and that we would help her. She just wants continuous love and affection. Have you been looking for a close kitty companion, look no further. No other cats in the home please, she would not be happy. She needs someone quickly. Julia, girl, born approx 2009

Story
Meet Popsicle! Popsicle was brought into a high intake shelter. Someone had found her abandoned with popsicle sticks taped to her back legs. We are not sure if someone thought they were helping her or what exactly. Her back legs are not usable. Both of them have hyperextended knees and there is nothing anyone can do. At time of intake at that shelter, no one really knew what her outcome and prognosis was, we agreed to take her into our shelter and see what could be done. And the above paragraph tells our findings. We even tried getting her a wheelchair but because her legs are stiff, the ones we researched and purchased she was unable to use without dragging her legs which would not be good. So, she grew into a big kitty, yes, she is fluffy and she scooted around the areas of the shelter sometimes pottying as she scooted but that's ok, we just clean up behind her. She loves life, absolutely loves to play with anything and everything. She loves us and we clearly love her. Popsicle, girl, special needs, long hair
