Story
Animal Profile:   Wedgewood is a silly Catahoula mix who loves being around people. He walks well on the leash and quickly became popular for the field trip program at Kauai Humane Society, but is coming to Seattle to find his forever home! He does well with other dogs, greeting politely and willingly sharing his space (though he does seem prefer the ladies).  Wedgewood arrived from Kauai Humane Society on 3/26, and we have received the following update from his foster:  " He’s a very sweet dog who’s never met a stranger.  He was friendly when we got him, but now he seems to “smile” much more.  He loves to get belly rubs and spends work days sleeping near one of our desks.  He also crates really well and is just as happy to sleep in there.  He does seem to have some arthritis and is fairly stiff when he wakes up, but he still has good energy when he’s moving around or going for a walk and has even gone for a short run with me.  " Wedgewood is working on his leash skills and will need a strong leader that is comfortable correcting him when he sees other dogs and gets over excited. Adoption Info:  Adoption fee is $450, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, heartworm test, and flight from Hawaii. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Animal History:  This dog was transferred from our Kauai Humane Society rescue partner (Arrival Date Thursday 3/26). This dog will be available for adoption in Seattle once evaluated. Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org

Story
We are re-homing our dog, she is 2.5 years, possible catahoula/lab mix. She is smart, loyal, affectionate, but anxious. She is great with our kids, but nervous with young kids who may be unpredictable. She has never bitten or aggressive, but does give warming barks. She has some great skills on leash, playing with dogs (dog park), and playing with our small breed dog. She is very gentle and knows when to stop. She will benefit hugely from a home that can support her nervous behavior with behavior training. We can't be consistent. I have faith that with the right re-homing situation, she will become a dog owners dream.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Penny, a young Mountain Cur/Catahoula. Penny loves training and learning new commands. She  is incredibly smart, food-motivated, and eager to please - making her a breeze to train . After training, she loves to nap. Her ideal home is with someone who is home most of the day, has a big yard for her to do her zoomies, enjoys training activities with a dog (e.g., agility, obedience, etc.), and enjoys snuggling on the couch. Sadly, Penny has had multiple homes in her short life and is cautious around new people. She would not do well in a home with new people coming and going often. She would also not do well in an apartment or home without a fenced yard.   Penny needs an owner committed to giving her a structured, daily routine. She has completed a board and train program to learn to be less fearful in new situations. The trainer says Penny is a wonderful dog and has a great personality, and best of all - is ready for her forever home! If Penny sounds like she could be a good fit for you, please complete an adoption application.  As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from pre-approved adopters.  Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $ which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and microchipping. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
D'Argo was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Texas and brought to a shelter in Lynnwood, and came to live with me in June. He's just over two years old, according to the shelter and the veterinarians. He's loving, energetic, and just wants to be friends with everyone. He greets strangers with a wag of his tail, and wants to play with every dog he meets. He loves to go on hikes, swim in Lake Washington, and run around the dog park enjoying the other dogs and smells. D'Argo needs a home with another active dog his size that he can play with. He's mostly okay with cats, but can be a little too rambunctious for them.

These pups are in Seattle, Washington too!

Story
Ladies, are you looking for the perfect guy? Well, look no further! I am all that AND a bag of chips! Speaking of chips, they're DELICIOUS! I am a true carb-o-holic. I love potatoes, corn, bread and zucchini. And beer should be kept out of my reach, because I have a taste for that, too! My foster mom tries to make sure I don't get into any of that stuff, but sometimes a loaf of bread is just too tempting to resist! I am also an expert at yoga and have perfected the "downward dog" pose. We could totally do yoga together! I am also an excellent swimmer and love to sit in the pool. My favorite shows are The Bachelor and The Bachelorette! I also like to watch Homestead Rescue. Oh, who am I kidding? I love watching anything on TV, period! I am the ideal composition of your perfect guy! We could do yoga in the morning, swimming in the afternoon and in the evening, grab a bag of chips and binge watch TV together! See? Perfect guy! I also love to have my ears rubbed and belly rubs. I don't mind hugs, but don't like to be laid on or loud noises like thunder or gun shots. I have learned to get along with the resident cats in my foster home and I will hang out with them on the sofa. I also live with several other dogs and I get along with them all. My favorite toy is my monkey and I do not tear my toys up. My foster sister, Josie, ripped up my monkey and foster mom fixed him for me. He is my favorite and I take him to bed with me at night. I sleep in my crate at night and will go in my crate myself when I am tired and ready to go to sleep. I should not be allowed on people beds until I've settled in because I tend to get possessive of them and will get grumpy if asked to move. However, if I do get grumpy, food (preferably a bit of bread or a potato chip) or a toy changes my whole mood. I am easy to manage, once you get used to my quirks. I would do okay with older kids, but I would not enjoy being around a rambunctious toddler or a baby. My ideal home would be with a single person or a couple. They tell me that I am a Treeing Walker Coonhound and that I am around 7.5 years old and around 61 pounds. They also say that I am so handsome and very sweet and silly! I am house trained, crate trained, and I am not a big barker. I really only bark when it's meal time and I couple that with a little wiggle butt dance. I get so excited to eat! I will definitely need a forever home with a nice back yard because as a hound dog, I like to explore with my nose. If you think I might be the guy for you, give them a shout and tell them Elvis sent you! The sooner, the better! I can't wait to meet my forever people! I hope it's YOU! Elvis's adoption fee is $650 (that includes ground transport from Houston, TX to the Seattle, WA area). Transport is arranged to adopter upon finalizing the adoption. He has been neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped so he is ready to go! **This dog is currently in his foster home in Houston, Texas.

Story
Wylie is a very happy, gregarious and playful pup who wants to please and is food driven, so is easy to train. He currently lives and actively plays with 2 other dogs and is wonderful with his human companions. Wylie would make a great pet for an active family looking for a playful and loyal companion. Check out Wylie in video while he patiently waits in the vet's office with his foster-daddy. NOTE: In many cases, these dogs are located in La Paz, BCS, Mexico in foster homes. We transport them to their adopted homes via air transport with a volunteer.
