Story
Benson & Nikki go together like peas & carrots! Nikki's exuberant & outgoing personality has proven to be the best thing for Benson who was confiscated from his original owners for cruelty and was initially terrified of people. Nikki's fearlessness & love of life has shown Benson that people & new situations are safe. Benson has learned to play & wrestle from Nikki - she was adamant that he was going to be her playmate and wouldn't give up until she succeeded. The two are constantly together! Nikki is a spitfire with lots of energy who gives the best kisses. Benson is more laidback but plays enough with her to keep her happy. When they aren't wrestling, they do enjoy lap time & cuddles. Benson is a 1 1/2 year old, 12 lb, chihuahua/manchester terrier who is so handsome with his shiny black coat & button eyes. Nikki is a 1 year old chihuahua/dachshund (chi-wienie) who weighs about 7 lbs. These two are so much fun and we've so enjoyed watching Benson grow in trust & confidence under Nikki's tutelage. Because Benson is understandably still a bit tentative when initially meeting people, we think that children younger than 12 years might be too much for him. A socially quiet home would be best for this pair at least until Benson gains more courage. A secure fenced in yard would be best so that the two could run & explore to their heart's content. The adoption fee for the pair is $375; they are both fixed, microchipped & current on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm/flea preventative. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.or

Story
Hedy Lamarr, like the actress after whom she is named, is just beautiful!!! She’s got glistening black eyes & a shiny black coat to match. Add to that a pert little noise and you’ve got an irresistible package! And she’s not just a pretty face! 1 yr old rat terrier/chihuahua Hedy is smart as can be & is so eager to please; she’d be a dream in obedience classes. And since she’s lithe & athletic, agility courses would be a breeze for her! We got Hedy from a shelter where she was absolutely terrified of everything & everybody. She’s made great strides in gaining confidence but will need a quiet, structured home to continue to grow in courage. Hedy still needs a few minutes to warm up to strangers but once she’s figured out you are safe, she will get right in your lap. Hedy is extremely devoted to those she loved & is effusive in her affection. She gives great kisses! Hedy does well with other dogs and is in a foster home with 7 other dogs. But we think she’d really like to be an “only child” so she could get all the attention. When not playing with toys or exploring the yard, she wants to be held close & cuddled. Sleeping pressed right against her person brings her great joy as well. Hedy loves walks & car rides so is a super traveling companion. And at 10 lbs, she’s the perfect size! Her adoption fee is $250; she’s spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm/flea preventative. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org . Additionally, we think kids under than 10 years would be overwhelming for Hedy as she still has some fear issues. REQUIREMENT: Physical fence and a playful doggie friend in her adoptive home.

Story
6 yr old Bing Crosby, a chihuahua/rat terrier mix, and Ellington, a 4 month old mastiff/American bulldog mix, are the best of friends. Bing arrived to our Dog Dorm just after a litter of puppies and immediately adopted them. He viewed himself as their big brother & protector. When 3 of the puppies got adopted, Bing grieved and waited at the door for them to return. We've decided we can't take the last puppy, Ellington, away from him. Bing is good with other dogs but doesn't really interact with them; his focus has always been the puppies. For this reason, Ellington & Bing must be adopted together. Wherever one is, the other is generally close by. Ellington is well socialized with dogs of all sizes as well as people; he gets along with everybody! He is playful and active but not obnoxiously so; he wrestles & then is able to chill out and hang with his brother, Bing. When not following Ellington around, Bing very much likes to be held & cuddled. He will roll over on his back and wait for you to pick him up. 🙂 It's adorable! A fenced in yard is a must for these two and we don't recommend kids under 10 years old ... Ellington isn't quite aware of how big he is (40 lbs currently & likely to be 90+ lbs as an adult) and as he gets older & larger, he would knock smaller kids over. And Bing, although very lovable, is initially a little shy so younger children might be a bit overwhelming for them. If another large & playful dog is in the new home, even better so that Ellington can play as hard as he wants; Bign's diminutive size means he can't always keep up. These boys bring the best of both worlds ... a small, lap dog to cuddle with and a big, handsome puppy to make you laugh! What more can you ask? The adoption fee for the pair is $350; they are both neutered, microchipped and currrent on vaccinations as well as heartworm preventative. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org .

Story
Hi, my name is Millicent, but my foster mom calls me Millie for short. For 7 years I was in a puppy mill where I lived in a cage and had lots and lots of puppies every year. Thankfully that's a thing of the past. I got spayed and my teeth are clean now! I also have a heart murmur; vet care wasn't a big thing at the mill. I'm learning how to be a real dog. I really like to be petted and to sleep on a comfy bed. I can get scared easily, though, so you have to go very slowly with me. Can you be the human I need to help me get comfortable in the real world? Chihuahua Rescue says Millie is very sweet, though very timid. Whatever is new is scary because she's had so few experiences outside the mill. She will try to bolt and find a place to hide when she's scared, so you have to be sure she has a harness and leash on every time she goes outdoors, unless it's a securely fenced yard. Millie makes very little noise and is pretty reliable using potty pads in the house. She will go potty outside, but hasn't learned how to ask to go out yet. She's not interested in going out in cold or wet weather. Millie is good with all the other dogs at her foster mom's house, and ignores the cat. She would do best in a quiet household with maybe one or 2 other pets and older children who can understand her need for quiet, gentle care. Updated 1/29/18 by CG

Story
My name is Pedro Lopez, nice to meet you. I am 8 years old and must find a 'fur'ever home with my sister, Mama Mia - we are a bonded pair. We have been together our whole lives! If you may be interested in two little chi-chi friends fill out an application. My foster mom keeps telling me I look like a little potato; she likes to call me Pedro Potato. I keep telling her it's embarrassing, but she does not listen. My tongue seems to fall out of my mouth sometimes, it gives me character! I love other dogs and cats! Chihuahua Rescue says I am about 4 pounds at 8 years old. I am fully crate trained and partially housebroken. I will use potty pads and go outside. Little kids are a little too fast. I would prefer children ages 8 and up. The adoption fee for Mama Mia and me is $450. Adoption can be finalized after a dental is preformed. Talk about a BOGO deal! Could you be my special someone?
