Story
Henri is 10 years old. He was rescued a few months ago from the Nebraska Humane Society after he was found hit by a car in the ditch. Because of his past traumas he needs to warm up to new people and he gets anxiety in loud situations. I have two little ones at home and when they are loud it makes him nervous and he gets aggressive. The ideal home for Henri would be a single adult or couple in a quiet home. Henri doesn’t get along well with other dogs or small children. After he warms up to you he loves to cuddle and sleep most of the day. At ten years old his bladder is a little weak so if you’re not home occasionally he has accidents. I accommodated that with belly wraps in case he has an accident when I’m gone. I love Henri but I don’t feel like my kids are safe around him all the time and I want him to be happier with a more mature home environment. Everything I had for him comes with (food bowls, leash + collar, bed, outfits, belly wraps) Thanks !

Story
J.P. is an 8 lb. Chihuahua who was brought in as a stray and estimated to be between 10-12 yrs young. This old man would love nothing more than to lie in front of a heater or sunny window with some of his favorite snacks, taking an occasional meander around the block or in a fenced area. In his foster home J.P. has been working on some behavioral issues that seem to be caused by anxiety and his extremely limited vision, so he will need a quiet home with no small children. He is easily startled by quick movements and low-light situations. He shows his fear by growling but as a toothless guy he’s harmless. He is currently taking an anti-anxiety medication that is helping him relax and learn to enjoy his golden years. J.P. has been making progress but will need an adoptive home that is committed to working with him on these behaviors. He goes outside on a regular bathroom schedule but wears a belly band in the house to catch his “senior moments.” He has recently started visiting the dog park on warm days and has been doing well! He lives happily with another small, senior dog so would do well in a home with another gentle, older dog. The suggested adoption donation for J.P. is $200, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our animals in rescue.  If you would like to welcome J.P. into your home, please begin by submitting our adoption application.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Story
Buddy is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix, born January, 2015.  He needs a new home because he growled at toddlers in his former home.  It's always good to be cautious, but, as yet his foster has seen no evidence  of a problem with young children.   Buddy is very active and very playful even though he was recently diagnosed with renal failure.  He should live a normal happy life with a renal diet and renal medication which costs about $7.00 per month.  He is a loving dog who deserves a great home. The suggested adoption donation for Buddy is $150  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Daisy Doodlebug is a friendly Chihuahua/Poodle mix, born March, 2013.  This sweetheart is the very definition of velcro dog, as she loves to be with her people, especially on their lap or in bed.   She gets along well with the big dogs in her foster home, and she is very respectful of the cats.  We believe she is housetrained because she knows to potty outside, but is currently being treated for a urinary infection so she has been diapered.  Daisy is overweight; she LOVES  food and has perfected the skill of begging so Daisy and her foster are working on that.  The perfect home for Daisy will be one where she can get plenty of love and some help returning to a healthy weight. The suggested adoption donation for Daisy is $250.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Story
Daisy is an attention-loving Chihuahua puppy, born in June, 2019.   She is energetic and playful. She loves to give kisses to everyone she meets. She has done well with small critters (guinea pigs and hamsters and fish). She growls at her reflection. She has shown some dislike towards other dogs so would be best as only dog.  Not sure about how she would do with cats. Due to Daisy's size, we recommend no young children in her new home.  In her former home, she was paper trained, and her foster is working on potty training. She's scared of doors and not fond of stairs. The suggested adoption donation for Daisy is $450.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes.
