Story
Lionel is a 2 year old 12 pound Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Lionel hasn't had a very good life.  He had a accident/ trauma to his spine  that  makes him unable to control his urine or stool completely, but he is a amazing little guy that has a zest for life and the vets are amazed he gets around so good. Lionel gets along good with other dogs and loves to play. He will need a special person that understands he can't help it that he can't control his body functions, but he does try and he loves everyone!! A fenced in area is best. Lionel is crate trained, walks good on a leash, micro chipped, neutered and up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $250.00. If you are that special person and would like more information about him email projecthoperesue@gmail.com or to fill out a app for adoption go to the web site at http://www.projecthoperescue.org

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
