You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Jenny Cope (giveadogahome@live.com) for more information about this pet. Animal Welfare organizations have been deemed as essential business, and so we are able to continue our operation.  However, we are taking the threat of COVID-19 very seriously and are following the government guidelines and implemting our own precautions.  Meet & Greets will continue to be on an appointment basis only. They will take place either in the outside enclosed area, or the large room at the end of he kennels. There is a no contact, other than with the dog in place and children will not be allowed out of their vehicles. CHIP-L was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas with his 3 buddies, all feral and had been scheduled to be killed the day we saved them. CHIP-L is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, monthly preventatives and microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 20 April 2016 and at the time of rescue in May 2018 weighed around 11 pounds.   CHIP, PRINCE, MILO & PIXIE were all saved together. When I had informed the shelter I would take them into rescue, they informed me they were scheduled to be killed that day because they were feral. I had committed to them and so I couldn't back out.   When they got here I let them with the other dogs and just left them to it as I think it is important for dogs to decompress and figure out what has happened to them the last week, being picked up by animal control, taken to a large city kill shelter, having surgery and all the vetting then on a transport up to the rescue for 3 days, then getting here - it is so much for them all in such a short time.   CHIP has come a very long way and will come and sit next to me, he will let me scratch his head, belly, he will play although he does "mouth" when playing. He gets very excited when playing and is a very sweet boy. I let him build his confidence on his own and come up to me when he felt ready. At first it was taking treats and then this slowly progressed to me scratching his chest and ears, then eventually his belly. He is truly desperate for affection and he wants nothing more than to cuddle up on my lap. At times he has sneaked on the chair next to me and gone to sleep, however, he will not let me pick up he will run off, but then immediately come back. &#226&#128&#139As you can see in the video he does want to play, but he does "mouth" when playing and at times can put a bit too much pressure, he is not biting he just doesn't know he is playing too hard, but I gently correct him, telling him no and he does stop. This will take time, but the fact he has come so far on his own, in his own time, I believe with the right family he has huge potential. CHIP needs a family that understands he is going to need time to figure things out again and do things at his own pace. He isn't going to be jumping on your lap snuggling up straight away, he isn't going to let you pick him up or take him for walks for a considerable time so a fenced in yard is an absolute must. With time, love and patience everything can come, being with a family that has time to spend with him, teaching him things and helping him gain trust will enable him to develop the confidence and trust he needs.   We do not recommend children more because of his mouthing  little hard and also children are not as patient in allowing him to progress at his own pace.   CHIP truly is a very sweet boy, he enjoys the other dogs, he enjoys sitting on the back of the sofa watching the squirrels and birds at the feeding stations. He loves to get attention and deserves the best family and forever home. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how he would be around or with them.   &#226&#128&#139   All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550.  Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.   If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.   Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.   https://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.   We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.Click here to watch a video of CHIP-L.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

He has an estimated date of birth of 23 November 2016 and at the time of rescue in December 2019 weighed around 23 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. MARLEY-Boy arrived at the rescue on Thursday, 19th December and has been doing great. He is such a happy, social boy who loves to talk and tell you how he is feeling. He is ok with other dogs, but gets a little over-whelmed with being around a lot of dogs. He adores all humans and will come running up, eager to tell everyone what he is thinking. He does love to talk. MARLEY uses the dog door to go out and do his business and play, but he is most likely not going to let you know he wants to go outside. Marley is a really sweet, loving, gentle boy with a great happy-go-lucky personality. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW HE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK. Story
Hi! My name is Pepper! I am 3 years old and weigh 12 lbs. I absolutely love attention and love to snuggle in a lap! I will stay in a lap all day long if allowed. I'll follow my foster from room to room and settle down in that room until time to move on. My foster is in a power wheelchair and I know to stay out of the way. I can jump up in her lap easily. I enjoy being outside but prefer some company when I'm outside. I will come to the door when I want to go outside and when I want to come back inside. I am pretty good about staying in the yard and I come when I'm called. I love to go car for car ride, and if the car door is open, I will jump right in. I only bark when I hear something, and do not bark for just no reason at all. I'm a wonderful companion! I get along well with most dogs and enjoy playing with them, but would do best isn't only pet. I have not been cat tested. I'm ready and waiting for my new home!

Story
Little Peanut found herself in need of a new home when her elderly guardian became ill and could no longer care for her. One of our foster moms was glad to step in and help her out. Peanut is a sweetheart! She's a little shy at first, but it doesn't take her long to warm up. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. Although we know that she would love to have a person all her own! We estimate that Peanut as approximately 3-4 years old. She is in good health with the exception of a few extra pounds. But with regular meals and exercise, she has already lost some weight! Right now, she is being fostered in Tennessee. The rescue lists in areas where transport is available. They use safe USDA licensed dog transports that will bring her to their new family, once they are adopted! Once you send an application, the rescue will contact you for an interview and be able to send more photos and even videos She is spayed and UTD on all required vaccinations. She is microchipped and on flea preventative. Please, you MUST click the following link BEFORE emailing for further information. Story
ATTENTION: Kennel staff will be taking applications on me and picking the most appropriate home. Hello there, my name is Ava and I am just the softest little lady around the shelter. I am VERY nervous of new people and will require a couple meet and greets before I am fully comfortable with you. Once I open up I can be playful and want all the pets and snuggles, but only on my terms. I will need an adult only home who is respectful of the boundaries that I set. I came into the shelter when my owner was moving into no-pet housing and could not take me with them. I have lived with a dog previously, and could again, as well as a cat, as long as they're not overly playful with me, since I have some special medical needs. I have what the veterinarians call "bilateral luxating patellas", which means that the tendons in my knees are dislocated regularly, even when the vet tries to manipulate them back into their proper position. This is something that is painful for me, and will require working with my new owners veterinarian to get me on pain medication. Staff have been keeping me comfortable though, through a fort of pillows, dog beds, and blankets in my kennel so I always have somewhere soft to snuggle into. I enjoy snoozing the day away in the kennel and once I am comfortable with you, hanging out with humans as they tell me how sweet and lovely I am! I have potty accidents in my kennel overnight, but during the day I am fully clean!Weight: 6 If you would like more information about me and how to potentially adopt me, please contact the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126.

Story
Hi! My name is Dilbert...although my foster mom has been calling me Clem. She says I look like a Clem, but I don't see it. As long as you let me hang out on the couch next to you for snuggling, you can call me anything you want! I'm happiest with my human, but if you do have to leave me for a little while, it's OK...I'm good at chilling until you get back. And BONUS...I can totally use a wee wee pad, so if you do need to stay out for a bit, no worries...I got you. I am a senior pup and I need to take a blue pill everyday (for liver support), but lately I get the feeling that they switched me to a red pill! What is going on out there?? I love going for my walks everyday and I wait for people to stop and pet me, but all I keep hearing is "social distance"...what is that about?? I miss all the extra pets I get on the sidewalks. But as long as my human wants to love on me a lot, I can wait to be adored by others. Now...I would really like to be your number one, but if you do have other furbabies, I'm OK with that. My foster mom has another pup and a cat. I've only been here a week, but I am good with boundaries. I think we could become buddies if I was here long term. All I need is my real estate next you and we can all share the love. Maybe you noticed in my picture that I am a foodie. I will need a little help with my weight management. A couple of walks a day and less snacking should do it. It's probably a good idea not to give me the food off your plate...unless it is a special occasion...birthdays, holidays...we'll leave it at that. I might look at you longingly while you eat, but look away from my cute eyes! And finally, sleeping arrangements. Right now my foster mom has me sleeping in my own room, on my own bed. I was a little sad for the first few days, but I get it now. We all need our eight hours. She plays a sleep radio station for me, but I think she probably needs that more than I do. In conclusion, senior pup looking for cuddles and love. Maybe a little help on and off the couch. Can't wait to meet you and violate this social distance thing!
