Story
To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.   Brownie is a bright-eyed and alert 1.5 year-old Chihuahua mix male who’s still very much of a  puppy. He was an owner surrender at an overcrowded county dog shelter and made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he would have more time to find the perfect new home. We don’t know what caused Brownie to lose his original home but he’s ready, willing, and able to make a fresh start with a new family. Brownie was adopted from us last summer but recently returned because his family didn't have time to give him consistent direction on housetraining. Also, while he was very friendly with their kids, he didn't enjoy having the kids' friends visit and would chase and snap at them. He would likely do best in a quiet home with minimal visitors as he gets very attached to his family and might be protective of them with strangers. Brownie has been working on crate-training and housetraining in his foster home and will need to continue both in his new home. Unfortunately. no one ever really spent the time needed to show him what is expected of him but he’s eager to please so can definitely learn with plenty of supervision and positive reinforcement. He does well in his crate so that can be used as a housetraining tool. Brownie gets along well with other dogs and would likely do well in a home with a canine pal or two who can help show him the ropes. Brownie might be little but he’s eager to go for a walk and explore his surroundings. He’d be a great little walking buddy who you could just pick up and carry over puddles. Brownie loves toys of all kinds and can easily keep himself entertained. Brownie weighs about 7 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Brownie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Brownie and to submit an online application.

Story
Hi! My name is Pepper! I am 3 years old and weigh 12 lbs. I absolutely love attention and love to snuggle in a lap! I will stay in a lap all day long if allowed. I'll follow my foster from room to room and settle down in that room until time to move on. My foster is in a power wheelchair and I know to stay out of the way. I can jump up in her lap easily. I enjoy being outside but prefer some company when I'm outside. I will come to the door when I want to go outside and when I want to come back inside. I am pretty good about staying in the yard and I come when I'm called. I love to go car for car ride, and if the car door is open, I will jump right in. I only bark when I hear something, and do not bark for just no reason at all. I'm a wonderful companion! I get along well with most dogs and enjoy playing with them, but would do best isn't only pet. I have not been cat tested. I'm ready and waiting for my new home!

Story
Merta came into our home almost 2 years ago as a foster from a local shelter that I worked at. We don't know very much about the first two years of her life, but she was petrified of all people and generally couldn't be handled. She bonded with me and was originally doing very well in my home and interacting with all the animals. We have come a very long way with her socialization but she has not overcome her intense fear of men and children. She loves just about all adult females that she meets. Once she decides she likes you, she will fall in love and bond very easily. Merta LOVES cats and would do fabulous in a home with cats! She does well with very calm dogs that don't interact much but does not do well with active dogs. She has been bit by other dogs in the past and gets very nervous and sometimes defensive when they approach too quickly. She is a very sweet and sensitive 4yr old girl who has a long life ahead of her. She deserves a wonderful human who can give her everything.
