Story
Little 1 year old 5.5 , spindly Ellie. This little girl is like a sour patch kid, first she’s sweet then she’s sour lol. Ellie has a bit of bipolar disorder but has never bitten. She is full of love and cuddles, kisses and tail wags until she is getting her nails or ears done or you are trying to put a harness and leash on her, or basically making Ellie do anything that little miss priss is not in the mood to partake in. She may get a little growls or snap at the air in warning you she is not happy. Ellie is the type of dog that is like a toddler child and if you let her get her ya, she has your number and she way smarter than you may think. If you have a stern voice when she is throwing one of her epic Ellie temper tantrums and tell her NO be Nice. She will stop. If you give into her she is going to be a drama queen for everything. Ellie is very loving. She tends to be the dominant one with other female dogs but still gets along fine with them. She does best with the boys. Ellie likes to play but mostly likes to be held and coddled. She has long spider legs and she often picks her paws up high while walking, predominantly on her right side. We thought something was wrong with her at first but after a vet check, Ellie has no breaks or issues with her legs, she is just weird and holds her paws up at times like she does not like grass or dirt on her paw. She may have had a previous injury that healed and she had gotten into a habit of holding up, not really sure. Ellie plays and runs, jumps on furniture and has no issue mobility wise. She is ready to be spoiled and available in. Amanda only. Texas Chihuahua Rescue - Canada 4 hrs · Dusty is a Beautiful little soul. 2 years old and 9 lb. Dusty is a submissive shy little gem that does well with all the dogs, cats and well mannered children. He wants so much to be loved and to love his human as well. He gets nervous in new situations but is not overly timid. He is doing well on his leash/harness manners and potty training but is still a work in progress as he is a shy boy. Dusty is just such a gem and he adores attention, cuddles and exploring the yard but is very low key and not very hyper. He is a lap baby for sure. Available in Canada only. Story
Our sweetest little Polliwog. She is 10 years young and a wee 3.5 pounds big. She has birth defects in front limbs and possibly a bit in her rear limbs as well. She is a special girl and has zero problems with mobility. She walks in the grass and up and down the dog stairs to get in the human bed or sleep in the sun spot on the couch. Polliwog does have a bit of arthritis which is to be expected at her age and with her limbs already have a deformation. She does not ever appear to be in pain and although she walks like she has socks on that are ten sizes too big, she walks all over and does just as well as any other tiny dog her age. Polliwog is basically perfect. She is great with other animals, cats and dogs and older children. Because of her size and age we ask no small children please. Polliwog is not potty trained in the slightest, so that will be a work in progress however she will not go potty on the furniture and she does sleep in bed through the night. Story
Meet Miss Minnie, who is a sleek 12 lbs and 3 years old. She is shy and timid but coming around a little more every day. She likes to give tiny little hand kisses and is working on her confidence to show more affection. Once she truly trusts you she will be a cuddler. There is not an aggressive bone in this girl’s body. Sometimes to get her harness/jacket on or get her in her crate you may have to chase her a bit but she never growls or nips. The only time we’ve seen her growl was when her foster sister (30 lb) was trying to assert dominance and Minnie indicated “Not cool dude!” and they were both fine afterwards with the boundaries were set. Minnie is a chewer, not ready to play tug-of-war yet but she may get there. She has a small antler that she loves but she’s also put holes in a couple plus toys, so supervision with toys is a must. She also wants to be with you, not necessarily on you, but in the same room, she likes to know that you are always aware of her presence. We are working on getting better with walks every day. She likes to strut up and down the street and sniff what she can. She does get nervous with “heavy feet”. If you walk softly, like in runners, she will be fine, but stomping feet, even if just running or kids playing can make her freeze or try to run away. She has tried to do the Chi-Wiggle out of her harness a couple of times around large dogs when they’re relatively close but she’s ok to interact or ignore smaller dogs or larger ones if they are further down the street or across the street, where their paths don’t cross. Minnie came to us with a UTI that seems to have cleared up but she still drinks a lot of water and therefore needs to go #1 multiple times a day. We’re about 3 days accident free. She’s not fully potty trained but she is (95%+) pee-pad trained. All #2 has been done outside for almost the past week and a half. Minnie would do best in a home with older children, as younger ones can be quick and loud. She’d be ok on her own or with another of similar size. As she becomes more comfortable and confident, she may adapt better to different scenarios. Minnie is a little beauty who is looking for a fresh start. If you think Minnie would be a great addition to your home please submit an application on www.texaschihuahuarescue.org or if you are a pre-approved contact your coordinator and set up a meet and greet!
