Conrad is a handsome ginger guy weighing in at about 45 lbs. He isn't quite as furry as a typical Chow and has a lovely curled tail that makes him look like a mini Akita. As typical of many primitive breeds, he can be aloof or uncomfortable with strangers and it is important to earn his trust. Once you do, you will have a loyal friend for life. He would do best in an adult only home that is familiar with Chows or Shar-Peis. We would describe him as selective with other dogs so if you have another dog, a meet and greet is important. She is good with adults and kids since there are 3 kids where she lives right now. She is not good with other dogs. So she needs to go to a home where she will be the only pet. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Milo has had a very rough go of things. He was brought into the Orange County Animal Care facility in October 2018. He was a very unhappy, hard to handle boy because he had severe skin issues, some of which can be seen in his last picture. The shelter did its best but it was obvious that he needed to get out of there and get more medical care than it could provide. Shamrock took him in in December, and his skin issues continued to plague him. Our vets finally were able to diagnose a serious skin infection. It has been tough to battle but we have won. As he has gotten better, Milo has changed from a grumpy man to a delightful, friendly guy. He's a little shy -- he's probably never had much love, given his terrible condition -- but he loves walks, being outside and hanging with his friends. He would do best in a calm environment without children. He needs a patient family who will let him get used to his new surroundings at his pace. He likes slow, short, easy walks with lots of time to stop and smell everything around him. We don't think he's had much chance to do that in his life, either. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
