I adopted Cooper November 2016 when he was 11 years old. His birthday is October 29, 2005, he is 14 years old. He has arthritis and weighs about 65 lbs. He struggles to climb up stairs. He’s up to date on all his shots. I just want him to have a home where he’s loved and gets to go for walks everyday. He is not good with other dogs, he should be the only pet in the household. He bit an unleashed dog that came up to us on the leg for no reason at all during a walk when I first adopted him. That was the only sign of aggression I’ve seen from him. He sheds. He’s really loveable and always wags his tail at every human he meets. He’s good with older kids, but I wouldn’t have him around babies or toddlers because of his age, and since they might want to pull his tail or his hair, I don’t know how he would react. He loves to be petted. I just really want him to go to a loving home.

Beautiful Gypsy is an energetic lady, who we are looking to place as an ONLY PET due to her dog reactivity both in a prior home and at the shelter. Gypsy is fairly easily managed at a moderate 50lbs but is a little spitfire more than she looks. She has some real zip and therefore seeking an ACTIVE HOME with a FENCED YARD. Story
Sarge’s family made the difficult decision to surrender him to our rescue. They had him since he was a puppy and he is now about 1.5 yrs old. He lived with another male chow about the same age and they were buddies. The family kept the other one. The reason Sarge was not working out is because like most chows he is stubborn and wants to do what he wants and when he wants. Sarge needs a chow savvy family or person who will provide the necessary guidance and leadership that he needs and is looking for. Sarge becomes nervous when outside of his comfort zone and was not socialized as well as he should have been when he was young. He is absolutely terrified at the vets and had minimal experiences previously and none were good. Sarge is a very friendly, sweet and loving boy but needs to be in the right environment with people that have the time to commit to his development. Sarge is great in the car and loves to go for walks. His foster family will be evaluating him in the coming days and weeks to provide feedback so that we have a better understanding of the best type of home for him. A home visit and adoption donation is required. We are looking for a home in which the people have breed experience and no children under the age of 12. Sarge is going to make an excellent companion and member of the family and we are committed to finding him his absolute forever home. Chows are a sensitive and loyal breed and his whole world has been turned upside down. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.

Katie has had a rough year! She was a shelter transfer from Virginia where she was found living in a Jeep with four other dogs and two cats. Due to a period of neglect her thick coat was badly matted and the shelter was forced to give her, her new “do”. ?Katie is now living in a foster home and doing great! She is 7 years old, spayed and vaccinated. Katie co-exists well with other dogs but prefers dogs that are more laid back. She would do well with dog savvy cats but likes a good chase too. Katie is housebroken and crate trained but could also be left alone in the house. ?Strangers are tough for Katie and she takes time to warm up. Her future home will need to understand Katie’s need for space and give her time to open up to them as she learns about her new home. This senior gal loves going for walks and snuggling on the couch!
