Story
Ghost / M / 10 Weeks / 15 Pounds / Collie mix / Oshawa Meet Ghost! Ghost was born in our care on January 16th, and through no fault of his own is the last one of his siblings still waiting for his forever home! Ghost’s foster parents describe him as energetic, smart, sweet, curious, playful and outgoing. He’s never met a dog or person he doesn’t like, and will greet everyone with excitement and a happy tail. His favourite activities are exploring, playing with his foster sibling, and every toy he can find. Ghost is deaf, and this will require a level of understanding and patience when it comes to training, socialization and exposure to different environments. Experience with deaf dogs is a plus, but if not his family should be willing to go the extra mile to educate themselves on raising and training a deaf dog. It should be known that do to his condition, he will likely never be suitable to be off leash. Training will consist primarily of hand gestures, so long distance recall will be difficult to establish. Even despite this, training a deaf dog is easier than you may think, as dogs rely on their nose and touch primarily! Ghost is extremely smart and eager to please. He is still very young, so is learning basic commands easily. With the help and support of his foster family, he has already learned sit, wait and how to notify you when he needs to use the washroom! He is good on leash, but gets very excited when he sees a person or a dog, so will pull to try and introduce himself. His forever family should be committed to helping him understand leash etiquette and greetings. Ghosts ideal family will have the time and patience to commit to his ongoing training, socialization and exercise routine. He would do fine with children, but can be a little rough so younger children are not ideal. His family should be willing to work with a lot of puppy biting/nipping as he can bite hard when he is feeling playful. He does not like to be left alone, so his family should be willing to continue on building his confidence. He would do best as a second dog, he looks to his current foster sibling for guidance and absolutely loves to play with other dogs. As is he so young, he will need to be crated or in a puppy proofed space while unsupervised. He is working on crate training, and may whine/bark for about 10 minutes when he first goes in but settles quickly and sleeps most of the night (he will require a potty break). Although Ghost is young, we predict he will be a high energy dog. He will likely require multiple long walks a day, along with play time and mental stimulation. He is looking for an active family, who is home more often than not. He could adapt to most living situations, but would love a backyard to play in if possible. As a condition of the adoption contract, Ghost’s new family will be required to: -Neuter him within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption. -Ensure he has regular opportunities to go outside. If you work full time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 1-2x per day for a puppy visit. -Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required). -Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's critically important at this stage. -He will be up-to-date on vaccines for his age and Fetch & Releash will cover the cost of the entire puppy booster series provided it’s done at our local vet partner in Mississauga. If you are interested in adopting Ghost, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/dog-adoption Ghost’s adoption fee is $700. Story
Athena has just arrived to foster. We will update her info as we get to know her better. She LOVES people, and previously lived with 2 children. She does not have any experience with cats. Former owner reports that she is very choosy with other dogs, and especially female dogs. We will look into this more as she settles into her foster home. She will be spayed in the near future (date dependent on when spca reopens for appointments).

IF YOU THINK THIS DOG WOULD BE A GOOD ADDITION TO YOUR HOME AND YOUR ENTIRE HUMAN AND CANINE FAMILY CAN ATTEND THIS DOG'S FOSTER HOME THEN PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SEND IN AN APPLICATION WE DO NOT ADOPT OUT OF ONTARIO ********************************************************************************************* WHY IS THIS DOG IN NEED??- Sadly this dog has a history of being failed by 3 previous owners . 2nd owners found him as a stray/dumped in the country and took him in - then surrendered to vet. He then was adopted out to his most recent owner. We were asked to help this emaciated fellow-that was was thought to be a wandering stray. Then the owner was found that had taken him in only a few weeks before. It does not appear that he even had his own share of food, with his packmates in the outdoor shed he was living in. He was left to wander looking for food, safety.. and maybe his very 1st family ?? His last owner secured him and surrendered to rescue so he could find a better home. WHERE IS THIS DOG NOW ?- He is now in foster care in the Goderich were he is currently being allowed to settle and be assessed. He lives with other dogs, adults. **ALL ABOUT TUCKER He is not currently available for adoption yet. He needs dental care and to gain weight as well. **requirements for Tucker ** -an quiet home/ community -adult home/ teens . -no young children/ access to d/t his skittishness to sudden movements/ sounds. -fully secured/ fenced yard -exp owner who has exp with timid uncertain dogs and ability to help him gain confidence and ensuring is safety at all times. - a calm, relaxed stable existing buddy in the home. Update from foster mom : So we finally look forward to car rides, he finally figured out the other two dogs go in the car and come back, so it should work for him, he loves going all the different trails, new smells and sights to see. He is still a tad jumpy, loud noises and sudden movements but its getting better. He has found his spot on the couch and just loves to chill. His bowels are starting to get firmer. He is a curious fellow has to stick his nose everywhere. We have still not heard him bark, he is just a gentle soul. We are now working on not jumping out of the car door just because it is open, a work in progress, but he seems to be a smart fellow so it shouldn't take to long. More to come as we learn / confirm this dogs needs. We welcome your application for consideration . ********************************************************************************************* *** HOW IT WORKS - ADOPTION INFORMATION **** Please read ** ALL** the information provided below on the process to save time and facilitate the process in a smooth manner.
