Meet Khali! Khalie is a beautiful calico, about a year old that came to us on the Freedom Ride on November 10th with the others, a day before they were to be euthanized. Poor Khali has been through a lot. When she came to us, it was evident (and vet confirmed) that she had **very** recently had kittens; however no kittens were turned into the shelter with her when a man (former "owner") dropped her off. What happened to them? They were most likely too young to be by themselves. We shudder to think what happened. He "dumped" poor Khali at a high kill shelter, not concerned for her life, obviously. Thank God, we have her now and she is safe, poor baby.Her foster mom tells us, "Khali is very shy at first until you start petting her and earn her trust. Then once she realizes you are ok, she starts to purr. She gets along well with other cats and does well with my 2 year old son well as long as he wasn’t loud. She sat with him for hours on his lap and purred.Khali will be fully vetted before she goes to her new home and is hoping to be withher new family by the holidays.
