We adopted Jupiter in 2008 when she was a few weeks old. Her momma was a stray who gave birth under the deck of a neighboring home. Caring for Jupiter was like caring for an infant. We bottle fed her around the clock. She was sweet, and timid by nature. Our adult cat, Mika, mothered Jupiter in every way she could. Jupiter gravitated much more to Mika than she did to us. Being a feral, we had to be very patient and cautious with her. She always seemed to see herself as “prey” even though our home has always been very peaceful. Mika died recently and Jupiter has been grieving the loss of the only mother she’s ever known. She’s warmed up to us a great deal since we all lost Mika. She climbs under the covers with me every night and morning. She hides when our grandkids visit, but sometimes comes out to visit with the oldest grandchild who is 7. Jupiter is clean and very easy to care for.
