Story
This friend has just arrived to us on transport from a high-intake shelter partner! When our friends are new to us, we are often unsure of their full background. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we often are unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
We'll also keep you updated on Martin's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Martin came to DHA when his owner could no longer care for him. 5yo, 71lbs. Has not yet been introduced to other dogs or cats / open to meeting kids. Here's what Martin's foster has to say: "Martin has been house trained well and seems to love all people! We even had contractors here yesterday and he was great. He even played well with our grandson. He listens to commands and responds; sit, stay, bed, no." Please check back for foster updates or ask about adding to your family today! All animals from DHA are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and examined by a vet prior to adoption.COVID-19: To keep our community safe and healthy, we are proceeding with adoptions by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting this specific pet, please reach out to us by emailing our Rehoboth Center Manager Meg at msearcey@delawarehumane.org with your name, a phone number, who you're interested in, who lives in your home (people & pets), vaccination status of current pets, what your exercise plan would be for a dog, and any past pet experience. We will chat for matchmaking purposes, reach out to this pet's foster (if applicable), and make arrangements to meet and adopt from there! Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Stay safe and well! For more info, please visit delawarehumane.org. We look forward to making friends for life!
