Story
Meet Mae! Mae came to us with extensive medical needs. She had and was treated for heartworms (now officially negative). Mae also came to us with multiple masses and we had 12 of them removed. Mae also has bullet fragments in her right front leg that we have decided not to remove per the recommendation of our vet. We don't think many dogs are sweeter than our Mae! This girl is low maintenance and surprisingly quiet for a hound. At first we believed they had debarked her. But now she will occasionally reward us with a hound howl. Given Mae's advancing age, she needs a home that can allow her to go out every 3-4 hours. Mae is in a foster home with multiple other dogs and gets along with everyone, she even ignores the cat! Mae is crate trained, housebroken, up to date on vaccines and spayed. We believe Mae to be 10-12 years old. If you are interested in meeting Mae, please complete an application at our website, www.helporphanpuppies.org. Please note our adoption requirements and feel free to contact us with any questions. ** PLEASE NOTE: ALL PETS ON OUR SITE ARE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. WE UPDATE THIS LIST DAILY** Please note: All of our dogs are fostered locally a minimum of 2 weeks. Adopting a dog that has been fostered locally is a very important consideration. Animals that are fostered locally in private homes allow the fosters to learn more about the dogs personality and allows for making the best match possible. Also, animals that are transported into our area and placed directly often carry diseases, including parvo and distemper. Animals can also become ill on transports to the northeast, as they are exposed to other animals in route. If you have any questions regarding these diseases and the risks of not adopting locally, please contact your vet. Also consider any group that does not require a home visit. If they are not conducting a home visit consider if they are vested in where their animals go. As an organization, we invest a significant amount of time into all of our dogs, including crate training, house breaking, obedience training, and determining each dog's personality to consider making the best match possible. Help Orphan Puppies is registered with the New York State Department of Agriculture and our registration number is RR047.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Momma Katie's puppy Tramp.  He is one of 8 - 6 girls, 2 boys.  And a sweet, handsome boy he is!!  He is a happy, social pup, as are all the pups of this litter. These babies were born on 12/16/19; so, they are 8 weeks old right now (2/10/20) & ready for their forever families.  All of these pups are very people-oriented, love to be with their foster parents, love to play with one another and their other foster siblings, and are also great with Jack the family cat. To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the Safe at Last online adoption application.  Once we have your application, we will email you to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process.  Our process is very straightforward but does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $400, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), also apply. Also, folks, there was a recent upgrade to our website, which seems to have created problems for some users accessing/completing our online adoption application.  PLEASE, if you have any problems at all, PLEASE let us know by emailing info@safeatlast.net.  We will respond to your email asap and send you an application by email so that you can apply & our rescue babies won't lose out on any opportunities for a wonderful life.  Many, many thanks for your interest, perserverance & understanding!  We are working on getting this fixed, but until we are sure it is fixed, PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTIES.  THANK YOU!!!!Finally, these pups are being fostered in Worcester, NY (Otsego County).  All approved adopters are required to come to the foster home to complete the adoption.  (And you cannot meet the pups until you have applied with us, gone through our review process and been approved.)Thank you for your interest & for choosing rescue.  If you have any questions, please email us at info@safeatlast.net.NYS Rescue Registry No. RR 087.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
