Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sloan will be offended if you label him as disabled simply because he's blind. This boy has overcome every hurdle in his life and will amaze even you!   Sloan is one of the coolest dogs you're ever gonna meet...and boy o' boy does he have a story. In 2015, Sloan lived in sunny California. We don't know what happened other than he was attacked by a Rottweiler and saved by a construction worker who took him to a shelter for help. He had multiple bite wounds and an injured left eye...and that's when he still had his vision. He was pulled by an amazing rescue in Ohio and somewhere along the way, Sloan got away from the transporter. The rescue president drove to another state and refused to leave until she found him. Once she did, she took him home and never posted him for adoption. He became one of her own. That changed in the middle of November when she passed away. Sloan was then transferred to our rescue, and we discovered what an amazing dog he truly is.   With extremely keen hearing and smell, this boy manages just fine. Matter of fact, he will jump up on the furniture and will even walk up a flight of steps if you aren't looking. He is completely house trained and will easily follow your voice from room to room to the big outdoors. When it's feeding time and treat time, you will find Sloan has already made it to his crate and is sitting patiently, awaiting his goodies. He will greet you with excitement at the door when you come home and lay beside you while you are watching TV at night. I'm sure he would sleep with you if he could, but that could prove to be dangerous.   We are told that Sloan is an escape artist; however, that does not seem to be an issue now that he is blind. Extreme care should be used whenever he is on a leash and a secure fitting harness should be used just to be safe. Sloan is about 10 years old and weighs 14-15 pounds, but could benefit from gaining 2 pounds. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and free from all parasites – he's a very healthy boy. He should have a fenced yard to accommodate him, and a home with even-tempered dogs that won't get upset if he happens to bump into them. We hope someone falls in love with Sloan as this amazing boy deserves an amazing home.   His adoption fee is $250 (discounted to $150 for senior citizens 65+), and all adopters are expected to come to Harrisburg, PA to take this adorable boy home. Story
Sadie, 9 years old when rescued in September 2019, is a senior Corgi mix. She was overweight when rescued at 25 pounds and her foster mom thinks she may have lost a pound or two, but Sadie loves to eat. Her owner became too sick to take care of her and had to give her up. Sweet Sadie needs a new home where she can brighten some lucky person’s days and nights. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative. Sadie is good on a leash, rides well in the car and gets along well with other dogs. She is just an all around good gal. Her adoption fee is $350 which includes the $145 transport fee. If you would like to adopt this sweet angel, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
