Story
     Tiny Superhero DACHSHUND/COTON Mix Cleft Palate Puppy NEEDS DONATIONSDAX is not yet for adoption and we are NOT taking applications or interest yet.  He is listed to raise funds and get donated supplies towards his care (links are below).  Once he is listed as adoptable, first priority will be given to families who also have a cleft warrior.  We expect this to be in Late April-Late May depending on if he needs surgical correction of the cleft which we will not know until he is older.  Meet Dax -- our tiniest superhero! Dax is a Dachshund/Coton de Tulear/Min Pin Mix puppy (known parents) who was born by emergency c-section on 1/14/2020 and who has a cleft palate. He was surrendered to the vet by the owner and one of our foster homes stepped right up as soon as we found out about him. Puppies with cleft palates have to be tube fed (OG tube) for several weeks so that they do not aspirate the milk into their lungs. Dax is in one of our most experienced tube-feeding homes.and is gaining weight and thriving. As far as what the future holds as far as surgery, the answer is 'we don't know' Many puppies with cleft palates thrive without surgery. Some do better with surgery. Only time and growth and ease of eating/drinking will tell. We do not expect that he will be ready for adoption until late April-mid May and that also depends on whether or not he needs surgery for his cleft. We do not take applications or interest until we post an animal as available for adoption. We also prioritize adoptions to people who share the same superpower as the puppy.
