***PLEASE NOTE: Due to Covid-19, our shop is currently closed until further notice...therefore no one is on premises to answer phone calls. Please fill out an application if interested in one of our rescue dogs at https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you have any questions, you can email us directly at farfelsrescue@gmail.com. Thanks! Harper could be that dream come true pup for active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very engaging companion. She would be overjoyed with the time and attention that retired families often put into their dogs. We feel that Harper would also do well with a younger family with gentle older kids who love/respect dogs (no tail pulling or awkward handing please) and enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet pup brings to a family. Harper is a cuter than cute purebred Dachshund. At just 2 years old and a very portable 16 lbs, Harper has all the personality traits that endear a family to a wonderful, fun and very loving companion dog. Harper is the perfect size to enjoy outdoor fun and indoor cuddling... long walks or hikes, window shopping and enjoying games in the yard or park would speak to this fun-loving pup. She's also very easy to take along for adventures and fun everywhere a verysweet and well-socialized smaller dog is welcome. Harper has the perfect amount of energy for her age..she's active and playful and then at day's end, she's the first to snuggle down next to her favorite people for hugs and sleep. Harper loves fun and is entertaining in her silly antics, young energy and the huge love (once comfortable in her surroundings) she wants to show to all who are kind to her. While Harper may initially be a bit uncertain, she's a very happy and engaging pup who loves life. If she's given just a minute (a loving belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) she is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Harper is gently loving you up to let you know the strength of her feelings. The New Mexico rescuers recognized all of the wonderful qualities of this very sweet dog. They knew that Colorado was a perfect place for Harper. They were positive that there was a loving and respectful home near the Rocky Mountains that would adore this beautiful dog and want to make her a permanent member of their family. Being just a young pup, Harper loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Harper in a home where she'll get this consistent stimulation and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement/force free group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young dog whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Farfel's feels very strongly that Harper attend group obedience classes in order to master her skills and become a well-behaved and very pleasant companion out in the world. It is for these reasons that we're unwilling to adopt Harper to a family that doesn't choose to give her this training opportunity with one of our approved trainers. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of our approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. Once Harper is given the gift of great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is perfect for longevity and coat care) her coat will become the cottony-soft hair that speaks of good health. Harper will require an adopter who is willing to make a lifelong commitment to excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement is perfect combination for a cottony-soft coat and general longevity) and periodic sudsy baths/brushing...her hair will will then return to the stunning and shining coat that is natural to her breed. Harper will do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be backyard play, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Harper's joy at being with her people. Farfel's isn't open to a forever home for Harper where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like her to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. A family that is retired, works part-time or can bring Harper to a dog-friendly workplace would be an excellent situation for her. Harper will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations but most likely won't be spayed when she arrives in Colorado. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Harper's spay/microchip at one of our rescue vets to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy and fixed dogs. Harper is arriving on transport in late March to early April (we'll update once date is confirmed). If interested in this beautiful and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. ** PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Harper, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Please fill out an application here if interested in one of our dogs: https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and for any questions, you can email us directly at farfelsrescue@gmail.com *** What amazing dogs dachshunds are! Who doesn't love a short legged long bodied adorable pup! Hershey is a 2 year old, sweet dachshund boy. (Him and his sister are up for separate adoption, which is why they have similar photos!) Hershey was found on the cold streets of New Mexico. Luckily Farfel’s was contacted to rescue him! Dachshunds are the cutest dogs, what more could you want! Hershey has a great temperament, he is so super sweet and a little timid, but will warm up after he gets a bit of love. Hershey is healthy, and up to date on all of his shots. His coat is so beautiful and shiny, and to keep it that way she will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement along with 5 star food is recommended for excellent general health and to keep his coat silky-soft and very healthy. Hershey has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion - he will form quick bonds with his people (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through the love of an excellent family. Farfel's feels that it's very important for these great families to attend positive reinforcement/force-free socialization class followed by level 1 group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a truly bonded dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel so strongly about every dog being given this training opportunity that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose training. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. We aren't open to Hershey being left alone for long hours while his family works full-time outside of the home. Therefore retirees, those who work from home, part-time or at a pet-friendly workplace would be perfect for this very loving and loyal best friend. Hershey will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Hershey’s neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Hershey will be arriving on transport in Denver most likely Saturday April 4th. Applications are currently being accepted for this gorgeous and very sweet and loving best friend. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. Story
Barkley was adopted from a shelter at the age of 1, and has spent 7 years in our home. Now that our family is growing, we need to find a new loving home for our dog. Barkley is a sweet dog who loves to go on walks, lounge on the couch, and look out the window. He is very much a lap dog who loves to cuddle. He does not like other dogs or young kids.

Story
Meet Chevy! This little guy came to CARE from a rural shelter in a place called Goliad, TX. He is a quiet well behaved 6 month old little pup who is very happy about having a future with a loving forever family! We arent quite sure of Chevy's breed mix but we think he may have some Dachshund in the mix because of his long body and short legs. Since coming to us Chevy has been in a forever home with his brother Rocket and a few playmates and he is settling in very well with family life. Out of both brothers Chevy is the most outgoing one. He loves getting human attention and cuddles. If you think you may be the perfect forever family for Chevy please contact us! To find out more information on this dog please apply to adopt on our website at http://www.caretx.org/adopt and CARE will be in touch with you ASAP! This dog was rescued from a kill shelter or the streets and has been evaluated for medical and temperament to prepare for a forever home and is in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas* and is ready to fly to its final destination once adopted. The adoption fee of $850 covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, health certificate, and air transport * CARE rescue is in San Antonio, TX where we have a serious pet overpopulation situation. CARE is a non profit 501c3 rescue that has been saving lives for over 9 years and with your adoption, we can help save even more deserving urgent adoptable pets! We fly our pets to approved adopters all over the US, especially in low kill and no kill markets where there is a demand for rescue pets!
