She wandered into someone’s yard and we were notified after they tried to find the owners. A bit about this precious girl: Takes a little to warm up Would like another dog to keep her company if you have to be gone No apartments as she does like to bark at things she hears outside Toy possessive This little girl is so sweet and was extremely thin when we got her but with some good food and larger portions, she’s gaining some weight and is almost where she needs to be. We guessed her age to be around 8 years which is about right for the 11 teeth she lost in her dental. She is looking for a home that will not dump or abandon her again, so please reach out to her foster mom if you’re interested in knowing more about this sweet girl. P.S. She’s happy sleeping on the couch at night while everyone is tucked in bed for the night, though she would probably really love the Big Bed too!   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  =============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. He will need to sleep in a crate where he feels safe.      Available to an exceptional home with no children under the age of 12. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Meet Vinny. Mr personality. This little guy is so much fun. He is constantly wagging his tail. Nice house manners, enjoys car rides and such a cuddle bug. He particularly loves the women of the household so he’s labeled a ladies man. Vinny can be a wee bit jealous of the household men unless properly introduced. All in all he’s a little love and great companion. Contact adalovesdogs @gmail.com

Story
Danni-Jo arrived at Horse Creek Wildlife Sanctuary and Animal Refuge on January 22, 2020. She is the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet! She is a little shy when you first meet her, but she warms up quickly and wants so desperately to please you. She has obviously endured some type of trauma, judging by the scars on her body. Her unusual Mohawk is a result of the scaring on her head. Isn’t she so stinking cute?! She does well playing with other dogs in our fenced exercise areas, and she enjoys going for leashed walks on our walking trails. Danni-Jo is full-grown weighing 22 pounds, and we believe she is a Dachshund mix. She will make an outstanding addition to a family that wants the sweetest girl ever! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered and current on all vaccinations. They receive monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. All of their medical needs are taken care of before they are available for adoption. Our adoption fee is $100.00. Please complete an application, if you have found a dog you are interested in adopting. You can find our application at www.horsecreekwildlife.org/applic.html. Once completed, you can forward it to adoptions@horsecreekwildlife.org or fax it to 731-926-3000. Kim Austin, our adoption facilitator, will be in contact with you as soon as she has an opportunity to review your application. Understand that she has other duties and she will not ignore any interest shown in adopting one of our dogs. An application will need to be approved before a scheduled time to visit our dogs will be set up. It may take up to 48 hours before she returns your call or responds to your email, due to work schedules, holidays and adoption events. We do the very best we can for the dogs we have rescued and do not take the adoption process lightly. Please be patient and understand that we will place our rescued dogs in the very best homes possible and reserve the right to refuse applications.
