Story
Sweet sweet Mary Dell is looking for a home for her golden years after her beloved owner passed away. She will need an understanding home who will understand that she is quietly grieving and, while she will wag her tail and love on you, that she will not want to eat much and will be anxious for her first week or two in a new home. Mary Dell is an almost 11 year old Doberman. She is a sweet older gal and she LOVES to be pampered! Grooming time is her favorite. Even with her short fur, she loves to be brushed. She is good with other dogs, cats, and kids. She is playful with other dogs in spurts and then likes to do her own thing. Mary Dell does have arthritis, but is on cosequin and rimadyl for it. She is crate trained and house trained. We do want Mary Dell to go to a home with out many stairs and with minimal hardwood floors. She has trouble walking on slick floors, but does well with rugs. She does need to be carried up and down stairs. *Mary Dell's adoption fee is not listed- please email us! We are looking for the right family for her and are happy to work with her adopters.**

Story
Rex is a sweet old man that loves to spend his days curled up on his bed, going on walks, and spending time with people. He does well on leash and is already potty trained. He would do best in an environment where he is the only dog.

Story
Adoption fee: $175 Nino is a 10 year old, black and tan male Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail.  He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and negative for intestinal parasites. Nino came to GDR from the Savannah humane society where he was reluctantly and heartbreakingly surrendered by his former owner due to medical and personal circumstances.  Nino has been a bit stressed out by the transition into a foster home, so we have started him on some anxiety medication for the short term to help him calm down.  We will probably recommend the same into his adoptive home when the time comes.  You would never guess that Nino is 10 by the way he runs and plays.  He still has plenty of energy and is the living example of how age is just a number.  He is a sweetheart and loves to have his people around as much as possible.  He refuses to potty unless his foster parents are outside with him and gets very upset if you leave him outside by himself, so be prepared to spend some time in the yard with him playing to help him exert some of his energy.  He doesn't really do toys, but will chew on a bone from time to time.  He has done well with kids before ocming to rescue, but since he's big and clumsy, very small children are probably not the best idea since he may knock them over by accident.  He does well with other dogs but will not be homed with another male.  We do not know how he will do with cats so would recommend a home without them. Story
Adoption fee: $375 Rogue is a 1 year old black and tan, male, Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail.  He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and negative for heartworms and intestinal parasites. Rogue came to GDR along with 3 other male Dobermans that were part of a cruelty case.  All 4 boys were living outside with minimal human contact, fighting for what food was available, and doing what they had to survive. It wasn't until a couple of them got out of the fence and were running free in the neighborhood that they were picked up by animal control and given a second chance. Rogue is velcro to the max and thrives on attention.  He wants to be in your lap and touching whenever humanly possible.  Because of this, he is starting to show early stages of separation anxiety.  His foster crates him when she leaves for work, and while he does stay in there, he will scream and howl because he's not able to be with you.  This is something his adopters will need to work on.  He is still learning his house manners and is quite the thief, so he cannot be left unattended. At night he sleeps on his own bed in his foster moms’ bedroom and sleeps straight through the night. Rogue has a ton of energy and would do well with an active family that can help him burn it off.  He goes for several walks a day as well as plenty of playtime in the backyard with his foster sister, and he's still ready to go.  A fenced yard is a must for him, and canine-sister would definitely make him happy.  he will not be homed with any male dogs due to the likelihood of same-sex aggression in the breed and that he was already fighting with his brothers in his prior home.  He is not a good fit for a home with small children as he is oblivious to his size, and where his feet are at any given time.  He would very easily knock over a small child unintentionally.  We do not know how he is with cats.  He's started learning some basic commands such as sit, down, and shake. He is also potty trained, but definitely needs work on a leash. When adopting Rogue, he will be required to be enrolled in obedience classes to give him the best start with his new family and get the training and socialization skills he missed out on in his earlier life. If you are interested in adopting Rogue, please complete an application here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/359/generic ##552558##
