He was seized by law enforcement after his owner was taken to jail. They found him tied out to a runner with nothing but a 55 gallon drum for a dog house. No food or water was found... Gilly was adopted by his foster parents last fall. Over the past several months, as Gilly has recovered and thrived, they realized that he needs more exercise and training than they can give him at their age. With a heavy heart, they have decided to have us find a home that will be a better fit for Gilly. This handsome boy is just about perfect and well mannered in the house. He loves spending time outside and needs a physical fence to give him a safe place to run and play. He enjoys racing and chasing cars along the fence line. He gets along fine with dogs of all sizes and also does well with kids, but has not been tested with toddlers or cats. Gilly takes inexpensive thyroid meds (common for Dobermans) and Rimadyl for some arthritis. This big boy walks pretty well on leash. He pulls just a bit but is easily managed with slight correction. He just likes to wander and investigate! He knows the "sit" command and he's such a smart boy that will really do well with training to learn more commands. Are you ready to give Gilly a great home? When her adopters moved to Ohio, they decided it wasn't working out between Mera and their other dogs. It's a wonderful thing when rescues work together for the good of the dog and now Doberman Underground will find her path to home! This smart girl already knows several commands like sit, down and no. She is a quick learner and her foster mom is teaching her how to shake! Mera walks very well on a harness and has lots of controllable energy. She is crate trained and likes to hang out in her crate if you leave the door open. Mera is picky about her canine companions and will need to be an only dog. She does tolerate dog savvy cats as long as they don't approach while she is eating. She will make sure you are safe at home, alerting you loudly when she sees other dogs out the window. She does not like to potty while on leash, so she will need a yard with a physical fence so she can play safely outside. Mera likes all people, but takes a few minutes to warm up to men. She can be skittish but will do fine with older kids. She is very affectionate to people she meets on her walks. Mera is very cuddly and a totally velcro girl. Health issues forced them to surrender the girls, but unfortunately, they had been neglected for some time. This 2 year old blue girl has had some seizures, which are now controlled with medicine. Talia was born with a contracted tendon in her front leg. She just had surgery to straighten the leg and we are hopeful it she will soon have more use of the leg for stability. She may be required to always wear a brace on it. We are not yet sure if Physical Therapy is needed. We are doing everything possible to give her the best mobility. Talia is extremely loving and gentle. She's a couch potato that loves cuddling with her humans. Talia is doing a great job with potty training, but she does not like this cold weather! She knows the "potty" command but tries to hold it for as long as she can so she can stay warm inside. With a gentle push she will get up and brave the cold to do her business, then'll she be right back in the house snuggling under a blanket. Talia is welcoming and friendly with everyone, including adults, children and dogs of all sizes. She's even cat friendly! She's a great girl with a loving gentle nature. We are sad to report that Pappy has been diagnosed with the very early stages of DCM. Which means that he has a slight enlargement of his heart but is not symptomatic and with awareness we have him on medication so that he should have many more years of life to enjoy. Pappy didn't get out much at his previous home, but with daily car rides to go hiking he has been improving on his car manners. A more perfect housemate you will not find and no crate is needed for this boy as he is house trained and knows basic commands. Pappy is playful but he can be stubborn, so you have to work to get his attention. He is good with other dogs and does well with kids. Due to his size he will do best with children 10 and older. No cats! Pappy is looking for a permanent foster home to give him his best life. His care will be paid for by Doberman Underground and subsidized by our Phoenix Fund.
