Story
When Magnum first entered our lives he had been abused, his mouth had been tied shut and he still has the scares to prove it. He was very skinny and ate like he had never seen food in his life. After being in our care for the past few months he has gained nearly 25lbs and is starting to trust the world just a little more each day. His training is coming along gangbusters for a guy who when he first entered the program didn't know much, he has learned to sit, and shake, and also lay down most of the time on command. There are times that Magnum does get a little nervous and he isn't sure what the right decision is to make. He does do well with other female dogs, however he does not really have a great understanding of other dog behavior. If he is to be placed in a home with another dog, it would be one that will have to be easy going enough to put up with him, but also willing to correct him when it is needed. From our obeservations in the kennel we do not think that he is going ot be a great candidate to go into a home with a cat. If there are children in the home we would prefer that they be older, as older kids will be able to have a better understanding of the dog that he is. Even though this guy is going to be a project, he is definetly worth the work it will take to make him the great guy we know that he is. If you are interested in meeting Magnum, we ask that you please email animalwelfare@columbiahumane.org to obtain an application. Once an application is on file, we will then begin to schedule meet and greets for Magnum. Please note due to our program and our staffing constraints, we will only show dogs by appointment only. Our kennel is not open for public walk through. Please also understand our dogs adoptions are not completed on a first come, first serve basis, our placements are made by choosing the best placement for each pet. We will not adopt Magnum out to a home that doesn't have a fenced in yard, he is not a candidate to be walked as his sole exercise or as his sole means of going to the bathroom. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email animalwelfare@columbiahumbia.org
