Story
Raven is a very sweet, 14-year-old who would make an excellent companion. She is all Black, pure Lab with a white spot in her chest. She is very healthy and loves to go on walks and swim. She will also retrieve anything you throw. I have had her since she was a puppy but am moving to a cold wet climate that will not be good for her. She loves to lean against you and be pet. She will follow you everywhere and get very attached to a loving owner.

Story
Jezabel has so much love to give to her humans when she finds the right person. She will be a fantastic adventure dog, looking for your approval and love as you explore the area around you. She knows how to be energetic and talkative, but she also knows when it is time to calm down and relax if hanging out on the couch. Come meet Jezabel and see her loving personality, and if you're lucky she might even show off her dance moves.FOSTER UPDATE: Jezabel went into foster on 3/26 and we got a report that day from her foster momma. Jezabel was noted to be a great car rider. When she entered her home for the first time, she spent some time sniffing in laps around each room to get a good grasp on what everything was, then cuddled right up on the couch for a little bit. After she was done with the couch, she decided to lay by the window and watch the birds outside. It is sounding like, although Jezabel is a high energy dog, she does know how to live the house life as well. We are thinking that Jezabel will do well in a house who has a strong leader. Thanks to her foster momma for the care and the update.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Riley came to us from Lassen County back in November and has progressed immensely in his time here. Our trainer and our staff have been working with him to overcome his desire to bite the leash, teaching him to sit, and teaching him appropriate ways to get his human's attention. He is extremely treat-motivated and loves other dogs, but may need some help in knowing when it is appropriate to play with them. He will benefit most from a consistent routine and training time to help reinforce the good boy that he really is. Come meet Riley and see if he can fit into your routine.

Hatchet

Hound (Unknown Type)

Male, Adult
Portola, CA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hatchet is around two years-old and is the sweetest of hound mixes. He did not come from a good background, so he has come in severely underweight and unkept. After a bath, some brushing, nail clippings and lots of treats and food, Hatchet is becoming the great dog that we know he is. He gets excited to see people, whether barking for joy or wiggling his whole body, and longs to be around them. He loves hikes, the outdoors, and camping and is just looking for the right family that wants to do that with him. Hatchet is available to meet and even be adopted but won't be able to go home until 3/14/20.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Clyde (and his buddy Bonnie) came to us from Plumas Animal Shelter, where they were found as wild dogs up near the Greenville area. Both of these dogs will most likely be true rescue experiences as they are extremely timid of new people (not aggressive, just scared), perform best on a routine, and will need plenty of time (months, maybe years) to adjust to their new home. It is best to start slow by tossing treats from a distance and it may require multiple visits for this pup to show you his true personality, but once he does, he has plenty of energy, loves to be outside, and loves to play with other dogs. If you think you are ready to help either of these dogs overcome their past life of the unknown, please give us a call and set-up an appointment to meet them or get more information.***TRAINING UPDATE: Clyde has been working with one of our Board Members to help him be more comfortable around humans, and Clyde is showing major improvements. Clyde is much less fearful of humans, accepting treats, head pets, and belly scratches. His recall is beginning to show when playing in the big yards, especially with being easy to leash and harness to take out for adventures. Clyde seems to be progressing faster than Bonnie and is ready to show everything that he knows to someone in a home.***

Comet

Great Dane Labrador Retriever

Male, Adult
Portola, CA
Size
(when grown) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Comet is our Great Dane mix, coming from Susanville, who is just a big sweetheart on the inside. His best friend at the animal shelter before arriving here was the cat, letting her crawl all over him. He is a little scared at first, but it does not take long for him at all to be leaning on you craving that love and attention. He is not very active for his size, so he would be good in a house with a yard, some daily walks, and plenty of time for naps on his dog bed during the day. He may be big, but he should fit right into a good home.
